I have been home cooking my dog's food, but I don't think it will work out. Several times it became a great inconveinence(did I spell that right?lol). I don't mean to sound selfish, but when travelling it became a bit of a chore. I've decided to just give her a good quality dry food. I live in a really small town with not much choices in the dog food department. However, there is a Petsmart about an hour away. What do you guys think of Blue Buffalo?( Or any other one from Petsmart). It seems to be one of the better choices. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Speakin of which...Just today someone told me that dogs live longer if they eat family cooked food (I think she means leftovers of human meals), as the dog foods out there, both wet and dry, have MSG and other artificial stuff in it. I don't know how true this is, but I don't even cook for myself, let alone for them, heh.

If I were not so busy at the moment, I'd be more than willing to go look up the ingredients myself. Could you post the ingredients here? Perhaps then we can give you more feedback.

Though I woudl like to confirm by seeing the ingredients, I've heard it is a great food.

It's a pretty good food. Could you maybe supplement his food with a bit of cooked meat a couple times a week just as an "extra"? If you do that, he should do great :)

Decent ingredients, but the food contains menadione and the company is not very forthcoming when it comes to answering customer questions accurately.

You can get better food for less money.

I feed my dogs Blue Buffalo (chicken and brown rice) and have been very pleased. It is a good food. No by-products, no artificial flavors or preservatives, no corn, wheat, or soy...

It also includes "Lifesource bits" which are cold-formed to increase the effectiveness of vitamins and antioxidants. These "bits" contain glucosamine, kelp, fish oil, flaxseed, lecithin, and more...

And this is my favorite, all of the meats are hormone and antibiotic-free. This is very important to me.

I do add some supplements to it, as I would with any type of kibble. I also feed them raw meaty bones at night.

And not to disagree with Mordy, but I have exchanged emails with the company and have been satisfied with the responses.

Thanks for the input. One more question- Is it really necessary to add supplements to the kibble? What kind of supplements?

Pomp, check out the main page on the Dog Food Project for an email conversation with a Blue Buffalo rep recently. That was pretty ridiculous.

Just checked it out. I actually just sent them an email myself.
