CanadianK9, I was not thinking about fat content and preservatives. I enjoy my fatty foods, like chicken wings, and I wish I had more self control. What irks me is the sand in Wendy's chili(I had a bowl yesterday) and Subway bread(no whole grain in the wheat bread and the use of fertilizer as an ingredient).

You do realize that if you look far enough into something you can pick out almost anything, its not the actual raw product its parts of them.

Did you know from merely just breathing, theres bacteria in your mouth that is also part of rotting corpses, athletes foot, and fecal decomposition?

They are things and chemicals that are present within part of a certain thing, its not like some guy is pouring pig crap in your food ingredients.

Okay... so we all know that fast food isn't very good for you... and yeah, it's chocked full of preservatives and fat.

However, I'm not fully buying this "article." All of the references are from Wikipedia, which isn't the best (not even close to the best) source for accurate information. Also, the author is an electrical engineer. He may be onto something, but his research needs to be better than that for it to be believable.

Although I'd have to agree with a lot of his general ideas, I believe most of his article was based on round-about opinions and generalizations. I mean, seriously, take a look at his references. Any article with wikipedia as all of their sources is not a valid one IMO.

I think most people lack an understanding of basic chemistry, for example If i was against sodium or "salt" I could be as wild as to say

"omg dont use salt, its got ingredients known to be in euthanasia!" aka "Sodium Pentobarbitol"

Just because a product may contain a similar chemical/element does not mean it has the same properties or reactions, being of a different compound makes a big difference, I mean look at the difference between CO2 and O2.

I personally believe the play on each others lack of understanding and leading them to conclusions to fit their beliefs is kinda sad really.

ETA: The difference between CO2 and O2 is one can help you live, the other can help you die, yet they are comprised of almost the same elements, only... the CO2 has an atom of carbon in it, which vastly changes its properties, reactions and volitility

catch my drift?

There is no doubt fast food is not the most healthy thing out there. We know this, we are all aware of that.

But honestly if we know this, are looking for health food, and are smart enough to know fast food contains fat, preservatives, and not top knotch ingredients. Why are we not smart to seek health food from the appropriate source?

Additionally I once heard someone say "if you cant read the words on the label dont eat it" well while they may believe in this silly philosophy, it all depends on the product manufacturer, they could say a can of tomatoes contains "water" "salt" and "tomatoes"

when in reality the label could read, if one was so inclined

Ingredients: Hydrogen, oxygen, sodium chloride, Solanum lycopersicum

to name only a small piece of it
