Why?

Mia is always an extremely velcro dog. But these past couple of days she's whining at me almost constantly. I tell her to go away and then she comes right back and tries to put her paws on me or crawl into my lap. Then she whines some more.

I will admit, I've slacked on the exercise lately. (It's friggin cold and it's dark when I get home) I wonder if that's it?

ETA: I should clarify. Underexercised Mia is usually just really hyperactive and throws the ball at me all the time. Lately she's doing less of that and more just plain whining.

Is she intact? Some bitches get clingy before going into heat. That being said, my mutts are neutered so I have no first-hand experience.

I've had a very fuzzy Millie plastered to my side for almost 10 years, so it's hard to imagine not having a clingy dog. :p

Has Mia had anything bad happen to her lately? Something that might have upset her? Because other than coming into heat I can only think of that, because my velcro dog got more like a glued dog after Lucy died.

I'm pretty sure Mia is spayed. I could be wrong, but I'm almost certain.

It could be weather related/daylight hours kind of thing. Enzo is the same way right now, and she's been spayed almost two years now.

Other than that, I can't think of anything. Under-exercised Enzo is totally different than spaz, "can I sit on your lap? what about your shoulders? can I just like, BECOME ONE WITH YOU???" Enzo. :p

Are you feeling sick? I've known dogs to start shadowing their people when they sense something off with them.

Neither of mine give a hoot, ever, lol. They only persist on hanging around when they want something (food, walk, play...)

Oh my gosh Nia has been driving me nuts recently! Whenever I see her she goes into a crazy fit of zooming and throwing toys at me. If I ignore her she sits there and whines and whines and whines. If I go to another room, she goes into another room and whines!!! And finally when she's not making any noise, she's off destroying stuff. She broke a coat hanger (the plastic kind) into 3 pieces. Chewed the plastic off chairs, chewed wood off the staircase. Also she's not sleeping much at night anymore. She paces around, and whines once in a while. Sits on my chest and whines when I ignore her because I'm asleep. On the bed, off the bed, on, off, on, off, ball squeak, on, off, drink water, whine whine whine. Arrgh!!

This is all from not going outside to run for 2 days!! Today I'll have to take her out for a nice long, 2 hr fetch session. Otherwise I'm about to pull my hair out.

Edit: I have to say she's one of the most destructive dogs I've ever met!! Especially for a small dog.

Oh she's always really velcro. This is a new annoying level of clinginess though.

Can't think of anything that's happened with her. And she is spayed so that's not it.

Haha that's so perfect and true.

Underexercised Mia isn't whiny usually.

It's probably just feeling a little left out. Booker gets exceptionally mopey, clingy, and just put out when I am working a ton of long hours and there have been a few times where I have to stop and spend some time with him because he's either sick or just plain sad.

Usually just some Booker time puts things back in order.

It's more of a "WTF? my friend is broken and not playing with me."

Is she scared of anything? Maybe she hears or smells something that you don't. Sienna is scared of fireworks, and she gets really clingy when she hears them. Even if they're really, really far away and I can barely hear anything.

Or maybe you're going to have an earthquake soon. :)
