Haha, I think it's all those people coming up to us in the park talking about how cute our golden retriever pup is. I went to petsmart yesterday to look for a "fetch" sort of toy to play with. I tried out a few things and came upon those floaty bird dog retrieval toys (the canvas ones with a string attatched if you know what I am talking about. Anyway it floats and I can fling it pretty far for him to swim out an get or chase across the yard.) Anyway he had been pretty apathetic about the whole thing, much more interested in the dog food that someone had spilled on the floor then the toys in my hand. He looooved that toy. He picked it up and carried it around with him through the store, pleased as punch with himself. So that was the toy I bought for him. We went down to the local lake and hiked a little, then after a while decided to see if he would actually chase the thing into the water. I mean, this guy will only go after a stick maybe 60% of the time, so I was betting that I would have to go swimming after the thing if he didn't want it. Was I ever wrong. He chased it and chased it and chased it some more. He'd jump out of the water, drop it at my feet and get back in the water waiting for me to throw it again. It was really cute too because we were on the non-beach type side of the lake so there was no gradual walk into the water, it was just a few foot drop. He'd lean over the side, stick his front paws in and start to paddle , then launch off already revved up. But anyway, it cracked me up to see my little aussie shepherd doing the work of a huntin dog. Tim and I briefly discussed training him for bird dog trials just to see the looks on the faces of the guys with big ol' goldens and labs when little Sunny does his thing whatcha think? j/j
