She was home a few hours before I noticed, no one else noticed either. It's definitely gotten bigger since I first saw it.

Any ideas? We'll be going to the vet tomorrow, I suppose. I'm worrying but she's acting fine. My poor girl. :(

I first see stye too, hope no further infections could add, keep her in clean place until you bring her to the vet. Poor Summer.

Well, I'm glad you all saw a stye at first. Because what I saw was a title that read "Summer's Eve - help?". And all I could think was, I'm not sure that is a question for the dog section of the forum....

No idea about the eye, but I hope it clears up quickly.

that's the first thing i thought... but it's a bit big to be a stye unless it got infected or something
I've seen a few kids with some BIG styes.

Depending on what kind of vegetation there is it could be something like a piece of foxtail embedded that's setting up an abscess. Hopefully the vet will pinpoint the cause right away today.

BB -- I saw that too on first glance :D

Well, we got back from the vet. It's a stye and infected but we can't see if anything is in it. So we're trying some drops plus meds to try to clear it up. If that doesn't work then they're going to have to sedate her and do surgery on it. Hopefully it won't come to that. We should know if the meds are working within a week.

Good non-surgery vibes would be appreciated.

I would boil an egg wrap it in a cloth and hold it on her eye this shound help the liquid drain.
I tried a hot compress of rice in a sock (best I could come up with) but she won't have any of it near her eye at this point. It seems pretty painful to the touch and the vet agreed it probably was pretty sore. I think I'm going to try again later and hope it works.

I guess surgery is a strong word but the option if the meds don't work is to put her under and lance it. I'd rather avoid putting her under if we can. If we have to though, I might as well get her a dental done at the same time though, lol.

ETA: To me it looks less red today.
