I have had a dog for seven years and I got him when I was 7.
Does anyone have any idea how to convince your parents to get another. I know I am only 14 but I can give it all of its daily needs and love and attention. I can give it everything but the money for vet bills.
I have had 7 years of experience.

I have been trying to convince them that I can take care of another one and that I will pay for most of it (since I saved up ALOT of money).
They just wont budge.

I WILL do all I can for another dog. Anyone have any suggestions on how to prove that and maybe help them to change their minds?

Also any good dog breed suggestions. I was thinking Cavalier but I always like to change my mind:D

Thanks,
Heather

I'm in a similar situation but I want to foster since I will be going to college in 4 years and they would then have to care for the dog. Maybe you should ask about fostering ;) But I'd love to hear people's suggestions :D

I'm also in a similar situation, only that I'm almost 16. My parents don't want another dog... well my mum considered but my dad said no. The more I thought about it, the more I noticed that its better to wait. If it going to my dog, it's going to need alot of love and attention, of course this could mean that Gipsy could get less attention, at least in the other dogs puppy phase. Also I'm off to college in 3 years (in Germany they have 13 school years) which would mean that I can't the other with me. Your 14 so maybe you should consider that also. What I did is get a goddog at the local shelter. I sponser it so to say. I would like to hear people suggestions too though! lol :D I've thought about getting a dog at a shelter and pretend I had found it... but I doubt they would go for it! lol

When I wanted a second dog, I just never shut up. >.<

We now have 4... and my parents swore they'd never have another dog after Nikki and Trey were gone. I dunno, I must work magic.

But the thing is, my parents both grew up with A LOT of dogs around and they were also interested in getting into showing, so I think that contributed to our current situation. ;)

In the end while you are living with them, it's ultimately their decision.

Well said grammy :)
Sometimes parents DO understand things that you may not, and for most teens, 16 can mean driving, dating, part-time jobs......this could leave 2 dogs with a lot less of your time than you may consider at this moment.

I want to work at a shelter or an Spca. Anything with helping animals until I can go to college and try to become a vet.
