So my college's art department puts out a small news-letter twice a year. They encourage art students to submit art and if it is selected to be in the publicaton, you win like $25 (or maybe it's $50, i cant remember) But they take submissions in several departments (photography, pottery, graphic design, paintings, drawings...)

I decided to submit this piece that I have been working on for about days and just finished it.
I have to name it and write a bit about what inspired me to do it.

So what do you think of it? Do you think it's wrthy of being pulished?
What I did to the picture is added the colored keys. It was just a black and white photo.
I did not take the photo though. Which isnt a problem though. Last year they published my friends art and it included a photo that she found on the web and altered.

ARRRGHHHH photobucket is being stupid and taking FOREVER.

i personally would not want someone taking one of my photos and altering..then publishing. I like what you did, just wish the original artwork was yours. Will be interesting to see what your inspiration was.

Its kinda cool. The keys look like they are made of candy...yumm. If the pic was in the free domain, then its free to use and alter. If it was copyright then it should be.

I think you should use your own photo, because all you did was color the keys. It looks neat, but it's not solely your own work.

In every art class I took you were allowed to alter other images as art. (heck think collages) as long as it was free domain of use and you did something significant to it, it was fine.

The image was originally in a photoshop contest that I was going to enter but didnt get it completed in time. You had to add color to a B&W photo.

I think you did a great job adding the color, but as a photographer, I would suggest you don't submit a photo that is not your own without owner permission, and adding the photographer's name.

Somehow, looking at it gave me a craving for pastel springtime m&ms, lol. I really like it. Art that influences people is the best kind.

Oooh, me likey.

I do agree that you should use a photo of your own though, but the concept is good.

You could name it like 'Visualization of the Bridge' as in the 'bridge' of a piece of music. Color and music are often associated with one another so I don't think it'd be too abstract of a title.
