Are Big Dogs Dangerous Dogs? | KIII TV3 South Texas | Texas News

FTA:
"AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Testimony before a state House committee portrayed large, dangerous-looking dogs, by turns, as potentially deadly hazards and loving protectors of the family.

The measure pushed by Democratic Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer of San Antonio would require "vicious" dogs to be registered, insured and heavily restrained. The bill defines dogs as vicious if they're though capable of causing serious injury due to its "physical nature" or is overly aggressive, jumps at the fence and makes people think it could attack."

I don't know if anyone else has heard anything on this.. i was just browsing when i found this tonight. This p!sses me off big time. How much of an idiot do you honestly have to be to think that only big dogs are dangerous or as they say "vicious"

I also am rather upset that they are using such underhanded fear mongering tactics to designate a dog vicious.. So basically, does this mean if it gets passed, anyone who walks past my yard, and my dog barks at them.. he's vicious?

That is downright sickening. Sooo....if someone if afraid of my dog it is "vicious"?

Stop the train. I'd better go muzzle my "vicious" service dog because the jehovah's witnesses were scared of him, and his potential to cause serious injury due to his physical nature.

Are people seriously getting this stupid?!

A dog is a dog... they are protective (was one of their biggest assets for a long time) they are not human and they do not live by the same rules people do.

People except horses sometimes kick, that cats scratch. But dogs are expected to be able to interact with people the way people do. They can't... let them be dogs already!

This is what im worried about most. If they're going by what people are "saying" is vicious, that leaves the door for anyone who has a grudge to make a report on it and if barking and jumping at the fence is now a sign of a dangerous dog, im downright screwed. Our old-butt of a mutt jackie would be considered vicious, since she only seems happiest when she's barking at the fence at the cars that go by or just laying there sleeping like she's passed away. She is in no way dangerous. She's just a goofy dog.

Not to mention brutus. He's large.. so obviously he's just downright dangerous. He's a silent dog and doesn't really jump unless he wants to play. But im sure his size means he's dangerous. :rofl1:

Oh, not to mention people expect big dogs to be just perfect animals because they are large, but it's most times, at least in our area... The little dogs that cause the most problems. I've been chased and nearly bitten by more pint sized dogs than i have ever seen.. big dogs.

And of course the dogs aren't allowed to be dogs. By god that's just nature, We can't have that.

People are getting more and more insane . . . . and more and more irresponsible of their freedom, expecting government to dictate everyone else's actions and thinking it won't affect theirs: "restrain everyone else so I can feel as safe as I want to." :madgo: :wall:

I'd get the hell out of Texas, that's for sure. People have me saying "WTF" on a regular basis now. I just don't get it.

You know, i moved down here nearly 5 years ago(corpus christi tx) and i can't wait to leave. I Have never seen such a lack of ... hmm responsibility? per area that is...

I can honestly say there isn't a day that goes by that i don't say "wtf" or get affirmation that my dog is in all ways more intelligent than the people i see.

demagogues have always been the lead in to tyranny in a free society. and so we edge closer to tyranny of the "masses" and to the refreshing of the tree of liberty.

This is one of the reasons that I chose not to crop my Neo's ears. With him being 170lbs., the cropped ears would just give him too much of a menacing look. I found out this didn't make a difference when I took Brodi over to meet my neighbor just so he would know he wasn't dangerous. Even after petting him and everything, he told me that if Brodi ever got out of the yard he would shoot him on site. What a d**k!

This is just more PeTa/HSUS driven BSL legislation. People have been saying for years that they want to first eliminate everything over 40 lbs, and then whittle the remainder down to nothing.

WAKE UP PEOPLE. PETA/HSUS wants your dogs. All of them. They are getting their way, too, bit by bit, law by law. Legislation is pending RIGHT NOW in FORTY THREE STATES.

sickening.
