I only occasionally have semi-lucid dreams. I almost never realize it's a dream. Many of my dreams are plagued with times when I can't run, it's like slogging through syrup (unbelievably frustrating and terrifying), and I have the memory of running or look down at my feet--and realize I CAN run! But not here, because it's a dream, and so I give up. I know it's a dream, and I follow the path it takes me, but I cannot change it myself. I've had lucid dreams, truly lucid ones, several times in my life. I don't remember doing much with them... just went to relaxing places an enjoyed things I don't get to do much in real life.

I think the next time I have a lucid dream I'll take Middie and Chili and force them to get along. Bwahaha. (Hey, if ANYTHING can happen in a lucid dream, then why not push the limit??)

i als do whats called "dream shifting" where when i sleep i dream im something other than human, this is very vivid kind of "dream" thats supposedly much like astral projection but instead of the energy being out of body, it enters another body, others think its simply a way for our "souls" to explore our animal sids or totems...

dreams and the human mind are amazing things.
I think I may have had that happen to me once... it was back when I was in high school and I felt like I had shifted into a fox. I remember being upset though because I ran to my parent's room to wake them and get me help, but they wouldn't wake up. When I went into my sister's room, she woke slightly... but when she looked at me she didn't recognize in her half sleep slumber, assumed I was one of the cats and hit me with a pillow to shoo me out of the room. It was a very realistic kind of dream.

I've only had a few lucid dreams, I think.

I think I had one the other night, actually. It would have been a nightmare-- I dreamed that I was in the yard and somebody left the gate open and Kena got out, only when I tried to run after him, there was nothing beyond the yard, only darkness. I thought, and it seemed like I yelled aloud in my dream, "NO! This isn't real, this is a dream. Kena is safe!" and all of a sudden he was back. I woke up right then. Is that the kind of thing we're talking about?
It could be that is was a lucid dream. Too bad you weren't able to remain asleep for longer and try and hold lucidity. It's amazing the things you can do in your dreams when you're lucid.

I have experienced astral projection and all I can say is that its very scary and I hate it. I could see my body laying in bed like I was floating above it. I also felt like I was going through the ceiling. I would wake up startled and then before falling asleep again I would hang on to my boyfriends arm because I was scared that I would float away or fall. Everytime I would experience astral progection I would wake up startled because it felt like I was falling, but it was actually my "spirit" going back into my body. Sounds far fetched, but I know its real because I experienced it for myself.

I have also experienced lucid dreams and they're really neat.

Definitely can understand why the astral projection would seem scary. One thing I've been told is that your astral body can not permanently leave your physical one... they're still in some way attached by what they call the silver cord. That cord cannot be severed. It definitely was scary for me my first time. I had the same issue as you Reggin. I was out of my body up in the air by the ceiling and looking down at my physical body asleep. It freaked me out and I felt like I fell back into my physical body. I told my mom about it the next day and she said she's had that happen to her numerous times. I hear so many stories of people trying to produce spells or protections to make sure that nothing tries to possess their physical body while they astral travel. Personally I don't think that I should be concerned about evil entities because like I said, the astral body and physical body are still attached. If anything tries to mess with the physical body, the astral one is instantly snapped back into the physical one... I'm trying to find a link to where I read that...

Here's a link that may be useful to anyone with common questions and answers
