Hi,

Strange question here, but my pup keeps sitting down and I dont really know why.

He is sitting very vertical when he does sit, not his usual slightly slouched way.

his legs are very wide apart as well when he sits down.

Any ideas whats going on?

Was he recently groomed? Phoebe had razor burn down in the groin area and she would keep sitting in mid-walk. Has he been peeing normally? He could have some discomfort if there is an infection or something down there. Max would also do that if he had diarrhea and some was left over on his bum, kinda assumed he was getting the same feeling a person might get if they did not wipe well enough.

Hey, thankx for your reply.

Hasnt recently been groomed and cant see anything at his bottom, he has gone to the bathroom fine and is still eating, very strange as he has never done this before.

I'll be taking him out for a walk again later, see what he is feeling like then.

it started when we were out on his walk earlier, he just sat down, was very weird.

Maybe he is itchy?

Do you mean in the middle of the walk...as you're going along, he just plops into a sit?

What breed and age is he?

How far are you walking?

Has he had any unusual or excessive physical exercise recently?

Is he acting normal otherwise? Playful, normal energy?

Yea in the middle of the walk as I was walking along he just sat down until I asked him to come along and he started walking straight away.

HE is a collie/kelpie cross

We walk for about just under a mile, roughly 30mins that walk was.

Nope he has nis normal nutter bursts of energy ( he's 8 months old )

He is still playing and sniffing around chewing on his kong, trying to get ontop of the sofa etc but Im just sensing something isnt right at the moment although I could just be being overly worried.

Well....I'd probably, if it were me, go along for a little while and see if you think he's just being goofy or if you feel it could be something physical....like sore joints or if he's more tired than he should be on these short walks. That really isn't very far to go. Has he done anything to too excessive or repetitive or landing on hard surfaces a lot? I'm wondering about pano or ouchie hips. Is there any sign of favoring his legs? If it continues more than a week or so...if he does this frequently or if you just have a gut feeling that something's wrong, I'd get him looked at by a vet. Let us know how things go. Best of luck. It may be nothing but him being a goof. Dogs do the darndest things sometimes.
