Both my dogs will rub their noses on the blanket right in front of their dog bowl before they eat. They do it about 15 or 20 times and then take a few bites and then do it a few more time.

Is this normal? Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Hmm... I have no idea. =/

My dogs sometimes rub their faces all over the grass/carpet/furniture after eating, but not before or while eating.

Are their bowls made of plastic? Sometimes, plastic bowls irritate their noses.

No, the bowls aren't plastic. They're ceramic I guess? Glazed white ceramic?

They way they do it looks pretty cute, I'm just not sure if it's an instinctive thing, or what.

Daughter's Lab, Yogi ,did this , but it was more like a dog covering up something . As if he really didn't want to eat yet and wished he could cover it up for later .

My old dog use to do that too, she was just trying to bury her food. Sounds like the same thing.

I found this question asked on dogster too; it seems like a good number of dogs do this, but no one really knows why. There's nothing wrong, and it may be an instinctive thing.
