For a spay procedure, I always used sutures unless the dog has an allergy to them.

I also prefer sutures (stitches). From what I understand they are alot stronger. I've had dogs with both and never had a problem but from now on I will request sutures all the time.

I like the metal wire sutures, they are NOT staples.
Mine never, ever bother them because they are wire and kind of stand out
from the incision. I wish I had thought to ask for them when Bailey was neutered (I forgot) then he probably wouldn't have had to wear that darned
E-Collar for 10 days.

we do all subcuticular sutures for speuters where i work. the sutures are under the skin, dissolve over time, and there's nothing to remove. the only things that routinely go home with stapes are orthopedic surgeries.
