that was my next favorite out of those ones. She is gorgeous. I have a lot of time to think though, one thing that I learned about this shelter is since they do not euthanize their dogs they are there for awhile, I am not saying I want the dogs to stay there I want them to get a home, so I think I have to time to think this over. Do you think it would help if I studied the two different breeds she is mixed with more in depth?

i'd say the yellow lab mix or the dalmation/bulldog mix. i didn't see what the lab was mixed with, but in general Labs have great temperements. try to find out how the dog was treated in it's previous home.
as for the dalmation/bulldog i know both breeds have problems...dalmations=hearing probs and bulldogs=skin fold and breathing issues. BUT, almost every breed has problems of some sort that are hereditary so make sure you check into the history of the dog.

Both labs and dobies are great dogs. There are tons, I mean tons, of people on here that own dobes. You don't have to seach the forums too far until you run into someone who has one. A few people on here have labs too, but honestly, I don't see much, if any, lab in her. (Maybe I have a bad eye? lol)

Edit: Now I see it. I guess I do have really bad eyes. :p

Also, it says that the dalmation X is very active, and would like frequent hikes jogs etc...I don't know if 30 - 1 hour would be enough excersize time.

I personally would shy away from the bulldog mix; it's been my experience that they don't play well with other dogs and have a tendency to be horribly hard headed. The dalmation part could balance that out, but dals can be snappy in their own right as well.

My favorite is the dobie mix, who to me looks like more of a hound mix with those long ears. I had a female dobie mix and she was a great dog.

The Dobe is gorgeous!!
Also i really like the Yellow lab x, but as it states she is very active, so you would have to be well prepared for that.
I say go for the Dobe.....aweeee!!!

Have you considered a Golden Retriever or mix? Much more laid back than a lab. Any golden rescue in your area ?? Anxious to know what you find too. PS if the long haired put you off ... my grandlabs shed more than my goldens.

my Labs don't shed that badly. i brush them once a week and get the extra fur off. maybe some Labs shed worse than others. A friend of mine in Maryland has a Golden that sheds way worse than our Labs do. again, some shed worse than others apparently. :)

I havent really considered a golden just because all the ones I have seen leave hair all over the place, I mean as long as I brushed him/her I would be fine I think. Oh yes, there is a golden retriever rescue in my area I almost forgot all about them... oops:( . It is a few hours away though, but they have a website so I will check that out and tell you what I find on there. OOHH I am pretty sure there is a lab rescue too near where I live.

I really like the yellow lab mix and the dobe mix. I think the dalmatian mix is very cute, but I would be concerned about his unknown history, separation anxiety, and the fact that he needs to be house trained. Just my opinion!

I really like Red. He's super cute, and he sounds like he has a great personality!

It's totally up to you, though, this will be your companion for many years to come. :)

As if this wasnt hard enough already, I was looking at the lab rescue website and I found two of them that sounded really nice. The problem with one is he is 10 years old. On this site it is hard to get links, do you think you can go to www.safeharborlabrescue.org, then click on available dogs, and the dogs names are Bruno, and Chance.

they are both very gorgeous dogs...and they all need homes...but if you are only choosing between those two :) and can only have one :) i would go with Chance. he's young, apparently healthy and should have a long, happy life with you. i think he'd fit in with your exercise regime and weekends at home...as well as having someone there tues-fri to keep him company. whichever one you get, try to do it on a friday afternoon so you have all weekend with him/her to get to know each other and so he/she can get used to your home and whoever is going to be there tues-fri.
i guess i have a softer spot for those that have been mistreated/abused/bred for profit...and that is Chance to a "T". Bruno has had a good life (according to the profile) and i don't think he'll have a big problem finding a home even at his age. it's hard to choose....IMO i'd pick Chance.

or you could get them all :) lol...j/k

I am a firm believer in www.petfinder.com
There you can look until suddenly your heart does a little flipflop and you just know THAT DOG IS THERE FOR YOU! I found Vic there two years ago and from the minute my eyes fell on his pic i wanted only him. I had been looking for about 2 weeks and hadn't seen a dog that "felt" right yet. I have talked to sooooo many other people that have had similar experiences. I didn't want to go to the shelters because there i knew i would make a rash decision. This way your still doing a rescue but have the advantage of seeing more then one shelter at a time, and it is easier to get a bit more information about the dog before you make your final decision.
