This means nothing to some people in the breed. There is never a good reason to breed a dog who does not pass, any test.JMO
A known quantity is always better than an unknown.

Breeding dogs with UNKNOWN HEALTH STATUS on any of the big 4 is risky at best and irresponsible and malicious at worst.

JMO of course.

Sunnier, I apologize if you thought I was against you breeding your girl. I know how it is to have a small gene pool, especially when it seems the gene pool is riddled with health and/or temperament problems. Good luck with the breeding and I hope you have lots of pretty puppies :)

Are you a breeder, then? Would it not be important to be involved in an important aspect of furthering the breed in which one is devoted to?

I didnt think you were.

Honestly no one can damper my happiness for this litter. Its been along time coming and hopefully its the start of something wonderful. I refuse to let the internet and people's opinions get me down.

Will post a update soon.

All breeders take risks. Some are calculated risks thought out very thoroughly, some are not.

Each person decides what they can live with/without in the resultant puppies. It is my hope that each breeder can find new puppy owners who can accept/cope with the possible outcomes too.

Good luck with the litter.

It is. I think what she is saying is breeding with failing test results is unethical, at least in a many breeders minds. The breed pool is small, but not small enough to breed with both sides having failing results.

However, I hope the best for you Sunnier, little Rotten ones are a blast!

I might have mis read but did you say she failed her elbow score? Im tired so I probably read wrong. Can you get a CHIC # with out all the tests done? Jazz has a TT not a WAC. That would be the only thing missing

She did all the tests, but her dog didn't pass all of them.

A CHIC just requires all tests are done and results are public.

She didn't disclose Spider's failing elbow results before, hence no CHIC number... if she signs to have them released, the dog will have a CHIC number.

Yes. She plans to release the elbow results to the data base so that is available for those doing pedigree research, and yes, that means she will get a CHIC number and certificate.

I hope that the CHIC program will encourage more breeders to test for the major health issues in their breeds, and to disclose the results. The more testing and results that are available, the better selections people can make for breeding partners.
