For those of you that live in areas where it snows, Spring is coming and that means you know what is showing up in the yard! A lot of our snow melted this last week and  I didn't realize two dogs could leave that much "stuff":( I know this sounds nuts but with a bad back I came up with a solution to bending over with a shovel and sack for hours. I bought a heavy duty shop vaccum and dedicated it to spring cleanup:yikes: When I get through "cleaning up" I empty it, wash it out with a hose, fill it with clorox and let it soak then spray it out again. I don't use it for anything else. I get a lot of :rofl1: from friends and family, but hey they don't have to clean up and it works.

An interesting solution indeed! As long as you don't forget what it's dedicated use is. :p

If you wash it out with bleach, the whole shopvac doesn't have to be dedicated - just the hose and whatever nozzle you use, if any ;)
Actually I soak everything in bleach, but I still use it only for that or occasionally cleaning windowells too deep to reach any other way.

I just use my pooper scooper shovel/rake thing to clean dog poo. It has an extendable handle, and I don't have to bend (I have a bad back, I am 6ft tall and bending harms my back more than it does shorter people. Not to mention the many extra pounds I am carrying around).

That works great for cleaning on a regualr basis, but when it has been under the snow for 2-3 months, piling up, wet, well you get the picture:rolleyes: It doesn't scoop or anything else except smash into the lawn when you try.

I have one of those "Horse shovels" made to pick up piles of crap lol. I use it when I have gone a while without scooping..and I just rake it all up in a pile and pick it up with that. Its flat, and square unlike other shovels, and makes it easy to clean.

Spring is coming..?!
It's still January!
Sure, sooner or later:) We always get a January thaw here, which we have had the last week. Temps get in the 40s and some of the snow melts, it always gives me a bit of Spring fever.

I use 5 kids with little shovels and baggies :D

We still have plenty of snow though, so it's not going to be clean up time for awhile. We have a tiny kennel (about 4x6) that the dogs are trained to go potty in outside........but with all the snow, the door gets frozen shut in the winter and they just have to go in the yard :(

You would be surprised at how many advertisements in the paper there is every spring for people who will come out and pooper scoop your yard for you! ahhahahaha, I have no idea of their fee, but it could be worth it someday when my kids are all gone!
