I would love any info, and personal experience on these breeds:

English Setter
Clumber Spaniel
English Cocker
American Cocker
English Springer (bench)

and..

Saluki
Ibizan

Pictures would be great too. :D

As you can see most of them are sporting dogs, but two are sighthounds. I am very interested in lurecoursing. Most of all, how would a Saluki or Ibizan be with Papillons? I have never had a sighthound.

Possibly a future show dog. Must get along with the paps.

Thanks!

sighthounds raised w/ small dogs understand they are dogs but they may not comprehend the difference in size enough to control their strength.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, Pops2. Does anyone have experience raising sighthounds with toy/small breeds? Is it enough to keep them separated? Or is it just a bad idea?

It depends on the dog. Kaia's breeder keeps seven +/- borzoi with a...I want to say, Maltese. She's little anyway. They don't go out in the yard together because she could get mowed down by accident, but in the house they are all fine and play nicely.

Strider has always had small breed play buddies. When he's with a smaller dog I have him in a small enough space he can't build up a lot of momentum and run over them by accident. He often plays with our neighbor's boston terriers. A lot of it depends on the small dog too. They seem to do better with small dogs who aren't intimidated by large fast moving dogs.

we've had mini doxie, brussels & maltese around my boy extensively. you just have to monitor play to make sure it doesn't get to rough & you need a good handle on your longdog.
