I have alot of Amish neighbors. they are sweet, wonderful, kind people. they would never, ever hurt an animal. those are the 'normal'. yes...unfortunately some Amish people are puppy mill suppliers. like some suburban people are. like some city people are. like some rural people. but to group them all into 'those puppy millers' is cruel. and then to bash me...or..sorry, 'give me a heads up'........because I mentioned wanting to shop in an area of Amish...................come on. and I'm the 'bad' guy here??? what are you thinking, people? Heaven forbid.....I went and bought a quilt from an Amish woman. guess to everyone here I'm the ever loving cash cow supporter of every puppy miller out there. and it's ME that is dramatic. I'm sooo sorry I even posted..asked..

but don't make this about me cause YOU feel pissy.

Buying antiques and craft items doesn't necessarily equate with supporting puppy mills. I guess we should, if that assumption is carried to it's logical conclusion, stop supporting grocery stores and discount stores that carry Purina products, or products made in any country that doesn't support human rights, pay a living wage, etc. Oops. Nowhere left to buy deodorant or groceries . . .

Hey, now there's an idea. We should all go back to growing and hunting for our own food, taking care of our own, bartering with our neighbors for goods and services that they are better able to produce . . . .

What? Not too many are up for that? Too bad . . .

and some innocent farmers depend on us buying their wares for survival. and that makes me happy. nobody here can claim they provide everything for themselves. and so what...you shop at Walmart? and that makes the world a better place? I come here and mention an area.........and you want to bash and pick? you better look around your own neighborhoods.......there are TONS of puppy millers in YOUR backyard. before you take on one sector of the population, you look in your own neighborhood.

so..Puck...what is the good deals for staying in your area? :)
Its a nice hotel that Tanya's parents stayed at when they had their visit. It runs in the high 40's on weekdays and the low 60's on weekends. Good place, clean and quiet. It is on the West side of town and not near the tourist stuff, thus the cheap cost. I would offer a bed at our place, but there is simply no room. LOL

I cannot recall the name off the top of my head, but I can get you a number to call later.

Plus, it is only 10 mins from "Casa del Beakes". LOL

I am a frequent visitor to the Amish Country in Lancaster, PA. I have purchased many beautiful and well made pieces from up there. The furniture is very well made, albeit pricey, but you get what you pay for - quality, hand made craftsmanship, many pieces one of a kind. I have also purchased many linens that I have seen in catalogs for quite a bit more money. There are many interesting antique shops. It is a beautiful place to visit, especially this time of year. I'm not sure where you are from, but if you can, plan to spend at least a couple of days because their is a lot to cover. If you have more time, some of the other places that were mentioned are fun to visit to.

It is called the Westfield Inn :D

And Debi... didnt you know those shady Amish will try to sneak a puppy milled puppy into your quilt :p they are sneaky like that. HA

I am glad Puck answered the question though because while I do know that there are a lot of authentic country stores around I have no idea where or what ones are good. he is much better for the "where" questions hehe I am still getting to know my way around. I hope you do come to visit.

LOL..Sparks. same here. I can get you SOME places, but still am learning my way around. even after 7 years! it's because I am a homebody..Dave is the traveller. he can tell you how to get anywhere. :) my friends and I want sooooooo badly to come to your area. we do LOVE the 'simple' way of life, country, primitive goods. you bet...if we get there, I will branch off for a Hannah squeeze visit. I just hope the weather holds..otherwise we'll be there in the spring. but........then I can take Hannah outside...maybe for a wagon ride. (hey...that's HUGE around here. my little boys love our wagon rides...LOL)
