Hmmm . . . I like Richie's selections - Prince, The Gap Band, Rick James . . . and don't leave out War! Buckshot's choice is a particular favorite of mine too. Gotta add Tom Waits - especially Waltzing Matilda, but if I could only listen to one song I think I'd have to choose Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah, and I particularly like the version done by Rufus Wainright.

Or any Bach Fugue, or Beethoven's 9th, or any of the Russian composers . . .

Read the lyrics, she's irresistable because she's great at sex. It's actually a pretty funny song.
It saddens me that people actually listen to that music but alas my genre isn't all clean and sparkling either, just alot more so..

But enough ragging on rap. I forgot about WAR as well, they're an easily over looked group. (one of those groups that you love their songs but just don't know who does the song, then when you figure it out you go "huh, I didn't know that..")

I have like, 4 of their albums on vinyl and they're all pretty good. Good cover art too. Kind of cliche though.

While we're at it, Richie, we should remember Sly and the Family Stone (I Want to Thank you Fa Lettin Me Be Mice Elf ;) ). . . and TRex.

Anyone know who has done the remake of Bang-A-Gong they're using on the J.C. Penney's commercials?

I like too many songs to list, but some of the bands I listen to are Lemon Demon, Goth Town, DeadraveN, Green Day, Doomsday Virus, Godsmack, and more that I can't think of right now.

I can't stand people and music that disrespects women. Whenever I meet people like that, or hear a song like that, I feeling like RIPPING them apart.

I like those too. Wasnt "Tears In Heaven" written about his son that fell out of a window and died? I tear up everytime I hear that song.

I like that song Butterfly.. I think its by Crazytown?
Yeah, I think you're right. That's what I've heard too.

Oh, and "Butterfly" is by Crazytown. It's a pretty catchy song.

*Completely unrelated: I can't believe I didn't mention "Hallelujah". I love that song.

:) It's a very soothing song. The lyrics are religious, and I'm not, but there's something very peaceful about it.

Oh and more hip hop, freestyling is getting popular here, I might be able to win some free food during lunch if I'm good enough... mmm... cookies...

The song isn't degrading women, it's actually degrading himself... if that makes sense (I'm tired). He is dating a woman that likes to have sex and is very good at it. He knows his girl is cheating on him and having sex with many other guys (hence "bitch"). Yet, she is so good at turning him on and having sex with him, he ignores the fact that she IS a bitch (hence "irresistible").

That's besides the point, it's a really good song, he goes off on a drum solo. He's a truly talented musician.
