I got a phone call from my mom today filling me in on all the family drama. It turns out my 20 year old cousin (who has a 1.5 yr old little girl that she doesn't really take care of) has gotten a puppy from an ad at the gas station. This is the same cousin who recently asked a relative for $2000 (which she was given) because she didn't have money for rent and so on. She got it when it was seven weeks old and I highly doubt that she'll get it fixed or probably any shots because her family it not known for taking care of their animals. They take care of them for a month or so and then they bored with them and dump them off on people. I'm just so pissed! She needs to take that money and spend it on her little girl, not a dog!! GRRRRRRR!!!!

Sorry.....needed to vent a bit......

Well, with that situation I'll be angry too. She can't even pay her rent and probably nothing to buy their food and doesn't know how to take care of her baby, now bought a dog? What now? She will feed the pup and not the baby? I'm sorry but I think she's out of her mind.

I have to say... it's situations like this that makes me really want to recite out loud what I have quoted from Cheza in my signature.... I think Zoom has something similar in her siggy too. I get so annoyed when people impulsively buy/adopt dogs but that's just my opinion. Her poor little girl. She definitely does NOT need to have a puppy right now if she can't even take care of her own family and rent

Georgygirl, sorry to hear about this! Don't blame you, I would be angry as well.

If only people did not have children they either cannot or WILL not care for properly, most social problems would disappear in one generation. If only people did not get dogs they either cannot or WILL not care for properly, there would not be so many dogs put down in shelters. Both sad situations. :(

Not that it has anything to do with your good point, but how much was the dog?
She says it was $75, but she's well known for not telling the truth when convenient.

The thing that really bugs me is that she's gone through this song and dance before. A few years ago she out of the blue bought a poodle. Oh she loved it for the first few weeks, but then she completely ignored it and my aunt ended up feeding it and caring for it. My aunt found the dog a new home and it took my cousin two months to figure out the dog was gone. Then she had the audacity to yell at my aunt and say, "How could you give away my dog? I loved my dog!!"

Now it's going to be a very tense Thanksgiving for me. I'm going to try my hardest not to make a scene when she decides to show me her new puppy. THat is if she still has it.

Luckily the little girl spends a lot of time with the dad's family who seem to be making a sincere effort at raising her.
