I wasn't sure where to post this, as it's not really photography, so feel free to move it mods if you think somewhere else is better!

Eventually I want to get something relatively small and compact that will take nice, quality videos (of the dogs). Should I look into getting a P&S camera? Or something else specifically made for videos? And if the latter, then what? I do have a video option with my current P&S camera, but it's not very good. You can't zoom at all, and the quality isn't great. Very, very grainy most of the time. Plus, that camera's pretty old now and uses battery power like you wouldn't believe -- even with brand new batteries. Any suggestions would be great! :)

I would suggest something that was made for videos. Most are capable of taking pics as well.

I have played with a lot of different P&S cameras and none of them took very good video, I didn't even think that D700 I got to play with took very good video.

All I have is a P&S canon thing which for some reason doesn't take pictures anymore and only works for videos (someone seriously wants me to stop taking pictures, I swear!). The quality of video is pretty good, but like you said, the zoom sucks. If I had my way, I'd get a Sony Handicam. It's super itty bitty and doesn't use tapes or disks.

I would DEFINITELY recommend something that is 3CCD if you can afford it...

That said, I have looked and looked at many different points for a digital camcorder and I haven't really found anything I like. I really want something that I can take to trials and records my runs with. My P&S doesn't do the job very well at all.

So I'm interested to know if anybody else has any good input, too. =>

Ohhh I just bought a small compact little HD video camera. It was under 200. I just got back from more filming and took some 'film' myself. I will post some of it just so you can see the quality.
