For your Golden breeder, does he/she...
CERF?
Both parents are well-behaved, with good temperament, have been shown to at least a championship and hopefully do something else like therapy work, herding, agility, etc.
What's the guarantee on the pups? It should be lifetime. If the breeder says "several days/weeks/months" RUN away, don't walk.
As you haven't mentioned anything about showing, hopefully the breeder is selling the pup to you w/ a spay/neuter contract.
Her's what the GRCA says about buying a golden puppy... VERY informative.

For food, if your requirements are a food you can find at petsmart, I'm so sorry for your future dog. I've never been to a petsmart or petco that sells anything but crap. All of the brands they sell at places like that spend more on advertising than they ever have buying quality ingredients. Check out the Dog Food Project. Try looking at the GREAT brands Lizmo reccomended, and use their product search to find a distributor near you... I live in the middle of nowhere, and I found a supplier right in town--only a 15-minute drive from here and on the way to work and school. If you live in the city, it'll probably be even closer.
Good luck, Ivory!
