Ronin is doing AWESOME. Humping is no longer an issue. He's learned how to play with other dogs and loves running and playing with friends. But more than anything, he loves exploring/hiking/biking off-leash.

For a while I was mixing some 100% beef (canned dog food) with Orijen dry food, then switched to 100% Orijen. Now we're doing a mixture of raw and Orijen. He still has a few pounds to go and it's taken forever to get where he is now but he just looks so much better overall.

One other thing is that his ears remain to be a struggle. Pretty much if I don't actively monitor and clean his ears weekly they fill up with black waxy bacterial infection really quickly. It's a really small inconvenience for such a wonderfully behaved and beautiful dog though :D

He looks good!

Maybe he needs something other than just cleaning out the ears to get rid of the infection for good? Also if it's black and waxy it's probably yeast, not bacteria.

I've had him taken to three different vets. Two say bacteria, one has said yeast. This last visit the vet said bacteria.

He is looking good :)

Repeat ear infections could also point to some sort of allergy.

When I had my English Cocker constant ear cleanings were a must as well.

It's probably both- it's not unheard of. My lab had horrid ears when I got her. I used this info and we cleared up the issue completely over a couple months. Now I only clean her ears with this stuff on bath days.

I too would say blue power ear wash. It is pretty amazing. I've gone through multiple rounds at the vet, had ears that looked good till the day the meds were done and right back to gross. Blue power ear wash has cleared up anything gross my guys have had since I made it.
