I dont know if this is a wolfhound thing or if it apply's to other dogs as well. I heard its best to soak dry food in a water overnight so its mushy when they eat it. Its supposed to help prevent against bloat. Does it work? Has anyone tried it?

I always mix water in my dogs food, but then feed it immediately. I don't let it sit overnight. My dogs don't like the mush, only like "gravy" on hard food.

I have always heard it is better to mix water with dry food.
There is a thread on this somewhere, I will try to find it. :)

My husband always mixes water with his dogs food in the winter for some extra water to he knows they get enough (ecspecially since it is hunting season) and my mother always pup water in her pups food I have also heard it was bad and I have heard it was good and prevented bloat too???? I don't know it is probably a contraversial thing

I think it's okay to wet the food, but don't let it sit out overnight. I did this once and the food spoiled and got moldy.

Mixing in water right before feeding is okay, soaking overnight is not. As soon as dry food comes in contact with water, nutrients start breaking down much faster and bacteria begin to grow.

If you think you absolutely have to feed a mush instead of whole pieces, grind the dry kibble to a coarse powder in a blender, mix with water and serve.

Overnight, I wouldn't because as Mordy said it takes away all the nutreints. HOWEVER, I would not feed it RIGHT after putting water in it because when you add water the food expands and if you give it to them while the kibbles have not expanded yet then it will expand in their stomach. And all I can say id NOT GOOD!!! It is wise not to allow your dog (especially a giant breed such as yours that is susceptable to bloat) drink water right before or right after they eat because as I said before the kibbles will expand with water and it will not do well expanding in the stomach.
