I am cooking dinner for my SO's mother tonight. The one who hates me. The one who told him I was classless and was not raised properly. The one who told him that I was not a good idea because he was dating below himself. The one who thinks that because my grandfather was a miner that I am not good enough.

How do I not slip glass into the old bitches chicken?

Well, you have 2 options.

Make it taste foul and get revenge.

Or make it taste AMAZING and look mighty smug and see how she either a) complains about nothing just to be awkward or b) has to give you a compliment which probably tastes foul to her anyway ;)

LOL! Nah, for some stupid reason I am actually trying to make a really nice dinner. Not that she will appreciate it.
My SO is doing the roasted veggies (he does killer roast veggies) and I am willing to bet all the money I have that she will only compliment those.

I'd say make a nice dinner as you plan, let what she says go in one ear & out the other, and tell yourself that she will be going home soon. I think your SO should be so happy he has someone who will make a nice dinner even when his mother is the way she is.

Indeed. I intend to do just that. Unfortunately, with this old cow, any form of witty revenge WILL back fire. If I want a peaceful life with her son I am going to have to grin and bear her. She is 78 after all, not much more bearing, right?

Meh, who would have thunk it. It actually went well.
If you count having to sit through 1500 pictures of her England holiday, complete with explanations, twice, well. My SO and I have a feeling she may be going senile, but I suppose at 78 she is entitled to be a little dilly.

Glad it went well. I guess you couldn't have expected intelligent conversation on top of everything else.

LOL! I suppose not. At least this seems to have smoothed things over for now. Lets hope our winning streak continues!
