so i know we all got STUFFED last night, but i was wondering what everyone's plans were for left overs if any? :p

i made a turkey vegetable soup with pasta.. i used the leftover turkey with fresh celery, onions, carrots, broccoli, tomatoes and shell pasta with vegetable broth and let it sit on simmer for over 3 hours OMG it smelled sooo good. i can not wait til it is done.

so what else did everyone do with the leftovers? or what do you plan on doing with them?

Had I been the cook , I'd be making soup like mad !!!! The secret folks is to make the broth with either the beef bones first and then add the turkey or meat after everything's cooked . Otherwise the flavor is boiled out of the meats . I boil everything then strain . Add celery , carrots, onions ( diced ) and either rice or barley and the meats to simmer until ready .

Turkey soup is the best !!! I break up the body and add all the stuff like skin etc and of course any left over juices , gravy ...if you don't use the neck or giblets add those too . ( I don't the liver though ) It's usually a 2 day job for me , as after the straining , I leave it to get cold, and skim off the fat . Easy if it's cold outside ! I would have killed to bring yesterday's turkey home !!!!

We had our dinner at around noon yesterday, and then finished the little bit of leftovers about 6 PM.

well, for my dad's company christmas party, someone gave us all 18 pound hams... well, there are two in my household that work there so we got 36 POUNDS of ham! We put one in the freezer and the other we cooked, ate about 2 pounds of it, sliced the rest up and put it in 3 HUGE ziplock freezer bags.... we were able to send some of it home with my brother and sister in law (they are really tight on cash, so this will help them and we get rid of some of this ham)

My mom forced me to take home leftovers (even though I am a vegan and can't eat 80% of it) so in the dog's and rat's tummies it goes. The rats were so excited. T

Ham bone = Black bean soup !!! Served over rice and some raw onions .!!
Or navy beans :)

My mom . . . we just had the brunch stuff, so there really weren't any leftovers - Shiva got the leftover gravy with biscuits . . . anyway, Mom made herself a pot of pinto beans and a pan of cornbread and heated up her leftover collards later that day. I'm going to assume she ate it and fed it to my dad for a day or two, or it's still in the fridge for later.

And that's all I know about the Christmas leftovers, lol.

Or pinto beans with CORNBREAD! (hush up Renee.........you are NOT a REAL southerner!)

We had Christmas dinner at my sister's.........we made half the food, and she made the other half. We left the left overs there with the exception of the ham bone, LOL, she said "Bring it home to the dogs" and I told her I didn't give them cooked bones but I would take it for beans :)
