Its early and I have a short amount of time but. HELP! LOL. So I go out to feed the dogs this morning and the dogs are in a uproar. I only ever hear the dogs yap like that when a strange dog in on the property. So I open up the barn door and there sat a brindle Daschund.

I have no idea how this dog got here. We lock our maine gate so someone had to of scaled the fence. Or atleast thats what I thought. So I called Jamie who was on his way to work and had already been up 2 hours before I was. And he goes "Oh...Yeah someone dumped him over the fence so I put him in the barn so he didn't freeze". I just love how he just leaves with out telling me this.

So here is my issue. I know nothing about Daschunds other than they are cute. I really know little about small dogs. So I have him in here in the house closed off in a spare room until I can take him to the vet later today. He is super skinny and has a dindgy dull coat. He's maybe a year old? Im really not sure. I have no pics just yet but eventually I will get some up.

Here's some good sites about dachshunds.
http://www.dachshund.org/

Canada Dachshund Rescue

They have a high prey drive, they can be very bold, they are notoriously hard to housebreak (although I have known some that housebroke without a problem), and they can be hard to train because they don't always care about what you want (I did know a longhaired one at training class that was quite the opposite of that, however). They are a big dog in a little body.

I've never lived with a dachshund, but many members of my family are crazy about them. My aunt used to breed them, many years ago. They seem to be addictive, so if you have this pup around for any length of time you may be in for a lifetime of dachshunds.

They are a little stubborn, but very loving, and very, very cute.

What kind of person abandons a little dog in Manitoba in January? Thank goodness you got her in before she froze!
