Ugh... I just drove six hours yesterday to go and get my friend and Texas a puppy from another Border Collie breeder. I didnt get to see much of anything because it was so pitch black but I should have know better when I got there. This guy was a ****ing puppy mill.

1. His dogs were locked up in small kennels with 2 dogs in each cage.
2. The cages were disgusting and as soon as you pulled up you could smell ****.
3. He had like 5 litters of NEW BORN puppies in his TRAILER with five other full grown Border Collies.
4. He kept on trying to sell me a dog.
5. He also kept on trying to make me breed my Lyrik with one of his dogs.

So what was wrong with the puppy you wonder.... Well...

She's covered in ticks. I've taken her to the groomer and they cant even get them off of her. I tried bathing her myself last night and got about only 14 off of her. I just came back from the groomer like two hours ago and I sat there pulling ticks off of the poor girl. I've pulled off atleast 100+. We've also put some K9 Advantix on her. She'll be going to the vet tomorrow.

She's got some serious eye drainage coming from her eyes. Which this has me like seriously worried about her but I'll just have to see what the vet says.

Alot of people are questioning if she's even a pure Border Collie. I've compared her to some of my pictures when my babies were 14 weeks old. They look nothing alike if you ask me.

When I looked at her pedigee eariler I noticed that the parents were registered one number away from each other. So I'm thinking that she could be inbred. With further research I have found that her breeders has been banned from the ABCA.

Hopefully it doesnt get anyworse for this little girl. =/

I'm not sure I'm reading the first sentence of your post right. Is this your puppy or your friend's? Why did you take the puppy when you saw what you saw? This is terrible. I fear for this puppy and the others. This puppy mill needs to be reported at once to the animal welfare people. I hope you have done something. This is real mistreatment and neglect of these animals.

This is why we here at Chazhound try so hard to educate people about puppy mills and the horrendous conditions that most of these mass-produced puppies live in.

I am terribly sorry you're having all this difficulty and I'm especially sad for the puppy. I do hope he'll be all right. Those ticks can cause untold permenent damage if they carry Lymes disease. Let us know what the vet says. I wish the best.

Please report that puppy mill.

Wow. I feel bad for the pup, but just as bad for the new owner. There's alot of work to be done. First take care of the puppy, and while you're doing that: REPORT THE PUPPY MILL!

How in the world did your friend find this breeder? Did she already pay for the pup BEFORE going there and seeing what you guys saw?

I hope everything turns out ok for the pup, but yes REPORT that place......if nothing comes of it, at least you tried!

Right. What's done is DONE.
Exactly. No sense in returning her for a refund. If you did a wrong but can right it by giving the dog a good forever home then atleast you have that. Most of us have made the same mistake.

You may want to consider a round of doxycyline if she was that covered in ticks. The chances having her being exposed to a tick born disease will be pretty high. Talk to your vet about treating it with the antibiotic. Even if the blood tests come up neg. for lymes, etc, I would treat anyway.....many times these tests will give false positives....and lymes and other tick born nasties can reek havoc with the immune system.

Good Luck

It sounds to me like she was picking up a dog her friend had already paid for or something.

Anyway, I would definitely report that place!

Her face looks a little deformed compared to your BC's. Unless it's just the way she's turned or something. I feel sorry for her being raised that way. I feel even worse for the other 5 litters! :( Definitely report that place!! Did your friend not check this place out or something?
