Okay we finally got my poodle trained. We've had him since he was 9 weeks old. He turned 1 years old in August 2008 and we finally have been accident free since November 2008.

Well the last 2 nights at 4 am our poodle Zackie has decided to get up and not wake either one of us and we awake to the sound of Zackie peeing on the floor. (And you can hear it) For some reason he likes to hold it.

This is really puzzling. And the worst part is we are all going to stay with relatives out of town later this week for a week. And he decides now to start using the bathroom inside. My relatives were so impressed with him last time.

Our other dog has been Accident free since September 2008 and she is 5 months younger than him.

Ugh any ideas

Make sure he gets out before you go to bed and pull the water is all i can suggest. THat being after you have ruled out any infection.

I feel for you but I don't have any suggesetions as I am trying to get a 3 1/2 month old Aussie housebroken and it's not a lot of fun. The dog is wonderful but like potty training a toddler, it's hard work!

Keep up the good work with it!!

VAl i have always set the timer making sure i got the dog out before the accident. STarting every 20 minutes and stretching it out as i figure out the animals natural timing for relief. That way you are setting yourself up for success. If i am busy and have to turn it over to another member in the house, the timer goes with them. It has been extremely successful for us. Making sure also to wisk the pup out as soon as they wake up, right after they eat or drink excessively (after play)...you keep it up that way and house breaking is done and over with in no time. THey stay in the same room with me also until they are a hundred percent.

I did the same stuff with Sawyer when he was a puppy. And now I can count on my hand how many accidents he has ever had in the house. It really does work.

Thanks. He really wants to use a part of the carpet (old ugly wall to wall that we can rip up anyway), that our former dog who passed away in February used to pee on, if she was sick or some such thing, not because she was misbehaving; she was the bestest dog there ever was.

No matter how many times I have shampooed the carpet there, Val wants to use that general area as his private potty. I know that we will probably have to get rid of the carpeting and I'd just like to find someone that I could pay to rip the stuff up. We'd do it ourselves, but we have to move a piano and some other heavy stuff, in order to rip it all up.

So I am stuck just shampooing the carpet, for now....

Maybe try some Natures Miracle? You can get it at Petsmart and Petco. Its the only thing I have found that eliminates any urine smell completely. It helps alot with potty training.

Try feeding him meals in that spot.

Maybe Woolite Pet Oxygen isn't as good as Nature's Miracle!! That is an excellent idea; I will make sure to pick up some Nature's Miracle tomrrow!!!

Let's hope this and the feeding idea breaks his habit fast!

Definately do so. I really think Natures Miracle is the only product that completely eliminates the scent so a dog can't pick it up again.

Good Luck!

The worst part is he was the hardest dog to potty train and when we moved here we finally a lot of work got him going strictly outside. Which is good no pet stained carpet to pay extra for at the end of the lease. We are close to the end of the lease now.

We leave first thing in the morning to visit my dad and stepmom and he picks now of all times to suddenly feel he has to go inside.

He was just at the doc and he has a clean bill of health. We take the water up about 3 hours before bed. They are fed at the same time every day.

It was stressful getting the other one potty trained she just didn't get it.....(they say its the Chihuahua in her....not an easy breed to train)

Anyways now she is doing great but he is reverting back to his old ways.

How do I reverse this.

I'm planning on being even more diligent in letting him out on a schedule while we are at my parents.

We don't crate him anymore at night....we haven't for months and have finally enjoyed the sleep. The crate always seem to cause him so much stress.

Our other dog however does still get crated but neither one does at night.

Anyways there are times when I know he has to go and just won't before bed. He tends to hold his bladder a lot. But normally he will wake us up if he has to go at night...which has always been rare

Well, just a thought, but how much is your cleaning deposit? I'm moving in 2 weeks and having professionals coming through to "de-pet smell" the house...I have a big house and it's $170. Might save you a bit on the carpet if your place is smaller than 3 BR 2.5 bath wall to wall carpet.
