Hi, I got my puppy about a month ago now. I have phoned the breeders asking If I can get his Dam and sires names and colours and grandam and gransires names and colours and the breeders don't seem to want to tell me. They claim they have breeding for long time and keep records of everydog used as part of their breeding programme but they, obviously cannot proove it or they have lied about it not expecting anybody to ask about bloodlines. I have e-mailed them and still they have not responded. It makes me angry that they cannot provide me with simple information about my puppy. Anybody else have any ideas?

Thanks.

I'm just curious. Why didn't you ask for all that before you bought the puppy? Anywho, too late. They obviously have something to hide. I hope your puppy will be ok and isn't inbred or something...

Btw... I take it you pup's not registered, am I right? If they said registered, then you should have all the papers. Obviously, you didn't get them. If the breeder said they were registered and is hiding the bloodline, I would report them to the AKA.

AKA = American Kennel Association. If they just said "KC" registered, I'm not sure what that means. I'd find out (unless they were just making stuff up) and report them to whatever that club is. Or wait a minute, maybe it's not AKA, but AKC... I'm still asleep... someone help me here!

Lol I am in the Britain. So I wouldnt know who to report it to. KC is Kennel Club which my pup was suposedly registered with. Personally I think it is all plain bullpoo they are probably just gypsies or something but they seemed real decent people they had stables cattle sheep and everything the farm they was on was a real nice place and I would die to have something like it, this is why it deters me from thinking they are conpeople..I reall don't know.

There are lots of breeders out there that don't even have all those pedigrees etc. I think in your case you just went to a backyard breeder :( You will know better next time, meanwhile your dog is really cute (if it's the one in your sig).

EliN, PB632 is in the UK. If I'm not mistaken, in the UK they just have one universal kennel club? (And yes, here it is AKC. I have never heard of AKA)

Your pup unfortunately probably came from an irresponsible breeder. I don't know if it's a common thing to do there but they may have simply claimed that the dog was registered without providing proof of registration.

Thanks, RD... I knew I was wrong with AKA after I posted that! It's AKC here in the states. But in UK, sounds like Kennel Club or something.

I agree PB's pup is cute no matter what! They probably just have a bunch of border collies on their farm and have litters with no real tracking of bloodlines. Anyway, looks like you've got a great pup!

bottom line..are u wanting to breed your dog? if not, do you love your dog? you got the fast shuffle that is for sure. Now you have to decide if it matters in the long run. Just make sure you report to someone about it. i bet your dog is praying it doesn't matter now that he is there.

Thanks guys I love him to bits. It's not a big deal if i can't get them but I will fight for them but if its going to harm my dog in anyway then...i'll stop trying to get them. I hope they have genuine reasons for holding me up. They had several litters there.

This is there website..

http://www.bordercolliepups.co.uk

It doesnt say on there that they are KC reg but thats what the breeder told me over the phone.

They indeed look like a backyard breeder for me :( I assume there was no hip check either. Either way, I would report them also for giving wrong information on their website and keep harassing them until you get that pedigree...

I'm good at harrassing people so hopefully something good comes from it :D . On his vet certificate it did say he was hip scored and that he was fine. Apparently his parents work on their farm. I'll just wait until I get a free day to travel up there and talk to them about it.

If I dont get it it might turn into WW3... I am a first class bratt and when I want something I will get it one way or another!! :p

Even if they didn't register the litter , you should be able to get both AKC numbers of the parents...then you could get both pedigrees from AKC. I'd make them fess up.

She's in the UK... therefore, they wouldn't be AKC...

Do you guys think it is a good idea i write to the Kennel Club and explain the situation and ask them what sort or action I could do to get the blood lines?

Thanks for all your help. Several different opinions always calm me down!! Thanks!

It could be something like getting a Jack Russell in Ireland . . . My sister's husband's family is from there and he went back to get their Jack from Ireland. Evidently, with the old-fashioned farm-bred Jack Russells the old farm families don't think much of the registries and refuse to deal with them - and are highly insulted at the thought they might!
