For the past week, I've pretty much been with my 7 week old puppy, Lola, 24/7 because I've been on break. Now I'm starting class and my second job again so I won't be able to spend as much time with her. I have worked my schedule so that she will only be home alone for 2 hours at a time. I have a kennel for her to stay in while I'm gone so I have no worries about her getting into anything. The only issue I have is that I want to make her separation from me as easy on her as possible. She's very attached to me and even when my boyfriend is home with her, he says she isn't as happy as when I'm home. I've been thinking about getting her a Snuggle Pet (here's a link in case you aren't familiar with them: http://www.snugglepuppys.com/comfortpup.htm ). They are sort of expensive, and it's not that I don't want to spend that much on her; I just don't want to spend that much if they don't work well. Has anyone had any experience with them or anything like them? There is a cheaper version that doesn't have the ticking heart in them that I also thought about trying.

I don't have one but if Lola isn't a chewer I think it would be great! Yes, quite pricey, thats actualy why I didn't buy one. There are also other alternitives such as leaving the tv/radio on quietly and putting a blanket or item of clothing with your scent on it and a ticking clock in her bed. Good luck!

I leave the TV and the lights on when I leave and I also leave an old dirty shirt of mine in the kennel when I leave. Actually the shirt isn't in there at this moment, because she had a little accident today.

I wouldn't be too convinced that she isn't a chewer. She's only 7 weeks old - that will take a couple more weeks to become apparent.

A good rule of thumb with puppies is, if you're happy to lose it, spend the money on it. If you're not, then don't!

They are a lovely idea, but can be substituted for with other things of yours that she loves and that you might not be as concerned about losing!

Snuggle Pets were initially used mostly for very young animals that were separated from their mothers too early, rescues, animals with anxiety issues etc. They were just such a great idea that they've crossed over into normal petdom. However, I wouldn't spend your money on one - she's soooo young and there are lots of other things you can do. You'll be spending a lot on her throughout her life so I'd put the money towards something more useful - a really good bed or crate or something.

It's sweet that you're being so thoughtful of her :)

Personally at that age I don't think the beating heart would mean much since she's been away from her Mom for a week now . I did/do the TV or radio bit .

Thanks for all the input. :) I might try the cheaper version without the beating heart. It can be warmed up, which I think will work for her since she seems to have trouble sleeping if she's not on/with me (a warm body).

Or, you take an old stuffed toy and a ticking clock, cut open the stuffed toy, sew the clock inside, and viola! Cheap alternative that is easily replaceable if it's chewed up! >^_^<
