He's a really little dog, but he sounds like a reving truck sometimes. My poor husband got the "roll onto your side" elbow a few times last night before I figured out it was Quincy, not him, oops! I'm a bit sound sensitive at night and sometimes it feels like trying to sleep through the dueling banjos.

None of my other dogs have snored like this, heavy breathing maybe, but this gets pretty loud. Is this something I should be concerned about? Can dogs suffer from sleep apnea? Am I going to sound like a complete idiot bringing this up at his next vet visit?

I can sympathize with you on this one! I have a boyfriend and a beagle that get into "who can snore the loudest" contests EVERY NIGHT! There have been nights that I haven't gotten to sleep until 3 am due to this. It is even worse that my boyfriend sleeps with his head by my left ear, and the beagle sleeps with her head by my right ear...now it is in stereo!!!
I guess I could buy breathright strips for Brad, but do they work on dogs??? :D

It depends on the breed of dog that you have. I'm sure that dogs can suffer from sleep apnea because i've seen a Dachys that had narcolepsy, so it wouldn't surprise me. But any short nosed dog will more then likely snore, like a boxer, bulldog, mastiff etc. Other dogs do snore, but defiantely not as loud I find lol! I havent' heard our little Shelties snore yet, and I haven't heard Riot snore yet either, i'm sure they will get there though lol

A friend of mine has a Boxer that snores SOOO loud its unreal! lol Its like a pig in labour! haha

All my dogs snore. They eat dogfood and lots of raw. I think it's hilarious though. Precious sounds like a freight train.

LOL That's funny. I actually saw some kind of snoring stuff in Petco the other day for dogs. Jack doesn't snore but he does hog the bed.

Thanks! Still haven't figured out if it's a "normal" decibel range for doggy snoring, but I feel a little better. LOL @ the "breathright strips" for Quincy! Elbow's cheaper for my husband. :D

We didn't get a lot of sleep last night anyway. Quincy had gas and figured I needed to wake up by "nose in the eye" to hear about it. Finally figured out it wasn't his digestive system bothering him, but the noise! He'd toot, then whip around looking for the mystery animal making that offensive noise. Three am and I'm walking a tooting dog up and down the block. He slept sound after that, think I'm due for a very long nap.

Hmmm, well.... that could very well be!

I do not know for sure but since we changed Yukon's food he has stopped snoring but he also has not been sleeping in the crate. He stretches out on the floor now.

ROFL! Oh, Meggie! This is off topic, but figure you'd be glad of the info. When they've got gas, you can give them a Phazyme gel tab (Simethicone) for it. Works quite well ;)

Your pup looks like a cavalier king charles, I may be wrong so don't shoot me. Someone else on this forum awhile back had also mentioned that their's snored as well. My grandmother used to own a cavalier a few years back and her's also snored, and snorted when it got tired. It is common for the cavaliers to snore because two other people that my grandma knew that got cavaliers also said that they snored, so I guess it's the breed but who knows.

My dogs snore sometimes...it's really quiet though. Mostly they just dream. I've had to lay in bed trying to go to sleep while Tippy's paws start move and she barks at dream rabbits...

Omgosh, funny thing about that! The first time this happened it was about a month after he had gotten over a bout of Giardia, so off I went to the Vet's with my little goodie bag in hand. Vet said gas, for sure, for positive, nothing wrong that a good off-gassing wouldn't help. Told me I could give him a dose of Pepto Bismol. Fine and dandy, the next time I got a nose in the eye I headed down to the kitchen. No syringe, nothing. Ask me if I knew that Pepto came in pill form that hey, if I had put on a plate and "accidently" dropped on the floor he would've gobbled up? Noooooo. He had beautiful pink lips for the night, and I had to wash my floor.

juliefurry, you are right, he's a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The best dog in my oh-so-biased opinion. :D Picture of him on his back was from when he was only a few months old. He actually doesn't sleep like that anymore.

gaddylovesdogs, Quincy dreams quite a bit too. Up until last year I had a house rabbit so I think if he's dreaming of them, he would be screaming "Run Away! Run Away!" (Monty Python imitation).

The Phazyme works MUCH better on the gas, Meggie . . . even works on husbands :D And it's a slick little gel thingy - you can slick it in some peanut butter, butter, cheese or just pop those jaws open and slip it down his throat ;)
