I don't smoke either. Hubby does and I wish he'd quite. He's not allowed to smoke in the house or the van. I'm a meanie! :p Acutaly, I don't like my son exposed to it.

I agree, I wouldn't want to die that way... I hate everything about it. I don't like the smell, it makes your teeth and fingers turn yellow, makes you look old, and can lead to fatal diseases.:( Very bad habit.

No Giny....you're not a meanie at all. I don't think that people who don't smoke should be subjected to second hand smoke. My husband started smoking again after quitting for 9 years. He hasn't had one since last Friday. He's trying to quit because of the surgery that he's having. He only smokes though when he goes to the bar with his friends...but still.

I don't smoke either. My uncle has started to have respiratory problems and seizures because he's a heavy smoker. My aunt (his sister) died when she was 22 from complications with smoking. She started at 14.

That's enough dissuasion for me.

There's nothing wrong with that, your not mean at all. If you and your son were exposed to the smoke, you could get second hand smoke disease, which would suck to die of when you weren't the one smoking! :(

My grandmother did the same to my grandfather, no smoking in the house at all. He quit about 2 or 3 years ago, and says he feels healthier (although he did gain a bit of weight:p )

Not a fan of it at all. My soccer coach, who quit 20 years beforehand, died of lung cancer. It's just not worth it.

I run cross-country for my college as well- smokers don't make very good long distance runners, and I want my VO2 max to be as high as possible.

Add all this to the fact that my mom is a pediatrician, and would probably rather kill me herself if I started (which I've never had a desire to), it's just not worth it.

(Not to mention it smells bad and makes teeth look yellow).

Good for all of you !!! The sad thing is that my husband to be got me started. I couldn't stand the smell and his breath until he gave me a puff. Smoking and asthma killed him too ...but not until he was 71.

Never smoked. Never wanted to. Never will.

My mom smokes two packs a day. My dad also smokes, but I don't see him often enough to tell you exactly how much a day he smokes(surprisingly, yes, he lives in the same house as me). My mom and I have actually figured out how much money she spent a year, etc. I can't remember the exact amount, but we could have bought a really nice house as well as a car with the money they waste on cancer sticks.

Aside from the money.. My mom has a gum disease from smoking. She's been loosing teeth for about 5 years now. Right now she has several back teeth missing, as well as her two front top teeth. I WANT to KEEP my teeth, thankyou.

My dad quite after almost 50 years of smoking. My mom and step dad also quit and they have all been smoke free for almost 2 years

No smoking for me either. I have never even taken a drag of a cigarette and i am 19, so im paste the stage of smoking because my friends do it...and they all did it. So I am proud of myself for saying no. and there have been too many health problems I have seen....

But I was exposed to 2nd hand smoke the first 17 years of my life. After I came to college my mom stopped smoking thankfully. Although it was only because she started having problems with or leg or arm going numb. We were in sears one day when it happened, and she fell. She had gone to the doc previously, but she hadnt said anything to me. But she quit and I am soo proud of her!!

Anyways, so far thankfully nothing else has happened and she quit smoking after about 30 years.

Also my great-uncle died from emphazyma, which he got even after he had quit smoking for many years and he past away when I was in 6th grade, but spent a long time on oxygen before that. he used to smoke a pipe...

I also have an aunt that used to smoke and is now on oxygen so she quit and my uncle quit to so she wouldnt breathe the smoke...

I think the sad part is that we have a family member who wont stop smoking, even after a health scare and the doc told her to stop....and she has a 13 year old daughter...

Nope. I have taken a couple of puffs before while rather intoxicated and then it takes another mug to kill the taste, so if it's that bad then...eww.

Nope, don't smoke either - lost a grandfather, grandmother and father because of it. Mom used to smoke 'til her doctor asked her if she wanted to smoke or breathe...

I dont smoke and never will.

My cousin died from a rare lung/heart disease that was possibly caused from second hand smoke while my aunt was pregnant with him... We dont know the real reason, but the possibility is enough for me.

Not to mention that i'm allergic to cigerette smoke. I get very ill when i'm around it too long.
