So for like the billionth time, I have a job interview coming up. I don't even really know much about the clinic but I know I want this job because for once, it is nearby instead of a trillion miles away, and I am so super sick of working 2 PT jobs.

I want to be cool and impressive and blow their socks off. Generally I think I probably do okay at interviews (well, really I think I suck but in reality I'm probably not that bad). My weakest point I think is when they ask me "so, what questions do you have?"

I'm not good at coming up with AWESOME questions. I think I'll look better if I have thoughtful questions to ask. Anyone here good at that and want to throw some of your creativity at me? It is for a vet tech position btw.

Best of luck to you! You might want to ask the following questions:

How would you describe the work culture here?
Can you describe a typical day for someone in this position?
What are this position’s biggest challenges?

What is your relationship like with the community at large? (Do they donate services to local shelters, sponsor various dog events, etc? You should research this so you can comment on it if it's something you're interested in)

Is the average client a long time customer, or are you currently experiencing a lot of growth/turnover with new people? (gives you an idea of how well they treat people)

How does scheduling hours work? (if it's part time work) How far in advance are hours set?

Get onto the internet and search. Phone up if they don't have a website and ask them where you can find information. Be prepared, be yourself and show who you are.

Always be prepared to be honest about your shortfalls but try to put a positive spin on it.

For instance, if I'm busy I can tend to be abrupt if interrupted. So I tell interviewers that my shortfall is that I tend to be very task focussed and that can sometimes impact on interpersonal relationships.
See how that makes being a grump seem good? LOL
