Does anybody know why small town cops pull you over for everything that you do wrong? Today I got pulled over for going 2 MPH over the 25 MPH speed limit and the wierd part is that I was ridimg my racing bike, one of the few I haven't modifed.

Maybe cause you're young......I remember when we lived in the burbs and my son would get pulled over. Nope, he never got a ticket or anything....I think they just did it cause he was young........like, maybe it was sorta fun or something. LOL How do I know he was never speeding???? cause I gave him my old 4 cylinder Celebrity......I can assure you that baby never went over 35. I loved that car, but never looked in my mirror when I was going uphill.....the folks stuck behind me were certainly always swearing.....floored going uphill got me to maybe 10 mph. Maybe in a small town they're bored. We could give them more credit and say that maybe in a small town they just care about keeping you and others safe. Now, don't think I pick on policemen......my brother is a cop. :) Now.......don't you be going too fast on your bike...ya gotta be careful!! (I only really nag people I care about) :D

Small town cops are always like that...I grew up in a little town in Texas, (my graduating class in high school had 32 students) and we only had a constable, but he would pull everyone over for anything.

maybe it is just boring as heck to be a small town cop..that was petty of him to stop you, did you get a ticket? Surely not..i hope not. The police stop my boy and his friends constantly..just because their young..especially on the weekends. They search them too.

I think small town cops just don't have a lot to do, so they jump on the first little infraction someone may commit. Don't they have some sort of quota to meet anyway? Maybe they are just trying to meet that quota. Of course, I do not see the sense in pulling someone over for going two miles over a speed limit. There are people doing things a lot more serious than that on the roads. I hardly ever see a cop on the highway leading from the Air Force base to town here, but they'd be pulling over just about every semi truck on the road if they were (going 70 mph in a BLIZZARD). Cops are always around when you DON'T need them.

I'd guess
1. Because they're bored
2. Because they can !
Here in Spain it can be similar - especially for the expats.... you can get stopped for no reason and have to prove ID, show all vehicle documents, show you are carrying spare bulbs, warning cones, reflective jacket in case of breakdown etc etc! Just what you need if you're popping to the shop.

Smkie - that's disturbing that they are searching your son and his friends on a regular basis. Sooner or later something will be found - whether your son and his friends had it when they were stopped or not, if you catch my drift. I've stood in the back of courtrooms on too many occasions and listened to cops swap stories about "finding" things. It makes it so hard on the ones that are doing a good job.

I know...I tell them...it is stupid to go out late at night, especially on Fri and Sat..you are just asking for it..i guess that is why they are all hereeeeeeeeeeee 5 of them..taking turns playing computer games..they even have to go out to smoke..they make me crazy, but I am glad they are here..safe

One pulled me over telling me I ran the only light in town which is right in front of the police station! I actually asked him if he thought i was retarted! I was so mad. I had even seen him there and turned down my stereo so i didn't get a ticket for that. He was like, you've never been pulled over before, thats too bad. Not to mention that he wasn't even watching. So I fought the ticket and went to three different court dates and he never showed up. I won but it was so much bs it almost wasn't worth it.He was cute though.

I used to work in a bar just down the road from the Police college, and all the new recruits used to come in the bar when not on duty. Then when they were on duty and had nothing better to do they used to pull me over for a chat! It ruined my Rep, as everyone always saw me being constantly pulled over by the cops!!

It always amazes and annoys me at the inequities. If I'm driving one of the old cars I use for a daily driver I get followed and harrassed, but if I'm driving the 750 no one even blinks at me. The only time I ever had a problem in it was when a newbie with the Sheriff's department followed me and pulled me over for no reason at all. His initial excuse was he thought my car looked like a "drug car" but when I looked at him and asked him just what a drug car looked like (and reminded him he was on the witness list for a case we were trying later that week, lol) he got embarrased and admitted he just wanted to see the car since he'd heard of them but never seen one. Just goes to show, if they think you're "somebody" you get left alone; if they think you're some poor schnook you're fair game.

this is not the best resolution..because i didn't have a scanner at the time and could only get a laser print from Kinko's before i delivered it. It is down at the kc police dept now in somebody's office..just thought it went with the tread.
the customer's son was a police officer and she wanted him painted as a cat
