www.dogbreedinfo.com has an area where you can narrow down your choices by your preferences, with size being one of them.

Do you want small-small like teacup-small or just small? There can be huge variations in size. For instance, my dog will be about 20-25 pounds full grown, still "small," but there are dogs that will be 3 lbs full-grown.

You've got to take your present dog's personality into consideration first.

Have you given going to a shelter or rescue any consideration? Maybe you don't need the right breed, just the right dog?

but the dogs from the shelter would think i am a bad human because of the way they have been treated by other humans.

Um, actually, a lot of rescue dogs bond much closer to their people than puppies do. Rescues are generally insecure at first, but once they realize that you love them, they'll put everything they have into loving you back.

And not all rescue or shelter dogs have been mistreated. ;)

Whoa..you don't want a dog from a pet shop that's for sure.. unless you want to support puppy mills..if you're going to get a specific breed, you should look for a good breeder. If you want a guide on what to look for in a breeder, there's a sticky in this section of the forum that reads "Responsible Breeders"...it should at least give you some guildelines..but please, please DO NOT get ANYTHING from a pet shop. Better yet, if you can, you should adopt a dog since there are many out there that need good homes.

By and large, the dogs I've adopted as strays or from shelters have been the easiest all around. They've bonded quickly - immediately, really, been beautifully mannered and had wonderful dispositions. I can't claim any credit for picking them, either. Each and every one has chosen me. Open your heart and see the dog, not the breed, and let go of preconceived notions and the right dog - your dog - will be there.

I don't know about the UK, but Labradors and Labrador mixes are some of the most common breeds in shelters in the United States. You're sure to find a labrador, even a purebred lab PUPPY in a shelter somewhere around here. (Again, I don't know the UK, maybe the common breeds are different there)

and.... Labradors aren't the smallest breeds around either! I think you really need to rethink your priorities. I suggest a shelter, however, I hate to think of homing one and then only to send them back.

Theres no such thing as a tea-cup size, 3lbs could be a chihuahua, not a tea-cup chihuahua just a chihuahua, tea-cup should never be used to describe a size as that can get people buying them!

This thread is almost two years old. ;)

Though education on the draw backs of the so called "tea cup" is never lost.
