I don't think you could quite call this an argument...it's called education. :)

I have fed canned foods mixed with kibble for almost 40 years to my dogs. They have been long lived and have had every one of their pearly whites and good functioning kidneys when they passed on...except one Standard Poodle which I got as an adult and was predisposed to kidney failure at the age of 12 :(
Basically there are many myths about dog foods out there that were started by dog food corporations (trust me, no one is making much money on selling canned foods...I myself make about .20 cents a can compared to almost $15.00 a bag of kibble). If I were out for money I too would be recommending kibble over canned to my clients. I have also seen many small breed dogs (and many large dogs) suffer from horrible dental issues from eating only kibble diets.

is just that there always seems to be some healthy debate when food is the subject!
don't worry about it. this has been the case on pretty much every dog forum/list/group i've ever visited. there is just so much misinformation out there, and different people trust different sources they obtain their knowledge from.

just make sure you read up on the topic and know who is supplying the information. much of the literature used at vet schools for example is supplied by the pet food industry itself.

have you ever been to the website of the "American College of Veterinary Nutrition" for example? look at the logo on the page:

Well she is ok, poo is no longer black and is back to a relatively 'normal' colour, thank goodness!

I gave her a worming tablet today which she has since puked up so in future I think I shall allow the vet to do it.

She is her usual bouncy self so all seems to be ok. Thanks for your concern hun!

Take care all
