You just might be the first person to convince me that not all Weims are complete spazztards. If anything, Slade is the best looking Weim I've seen!
Nope! This one's definitely not a spazztard. He has his zoomie moments like any puppy, sure, but he is otherwise, one laid back dude. I get comments all the time about how calm and well behaved he is for a puppy of his age.
I took him to a waterfront Canada Day festival last night, and he was a STAR.
There were literally THOUSANDS of people everywhere, live bands, sparklers and noisemakers, vendors every ten feet, and a full-blown midway.
He greeted everyone he met very boldy but politely, is an absolutely kissy-faced gentle love-muffin with EVERY child he meets, and didn't try to act like a goof with any of the dogs he met. He even met his first "non-family" Weim, a stunning 6 month old boy named Lucas. Lucas was a very very hyper and bouncy Weim, LOL, but not aggressive in the least. They had a blast playing together.
When we walked the boardwalk, there were so many people, that you were being touched on all sides, and you were moving only a few feet at a time. Slade took it all in stride, and just powered through; looking around, and sniffing everything around him. I did end up picking him up just before we got to a less crowded path, but not because he was distressed. I just feared he my get stepped on because it was getting pretty insane.
He absolutely took everything in stride and was fabulous, so we left while he was still having fun. All in all, a wonderful experience for him I think.
He makes me so proud sometimes. Whenever I expect him to act like a "typical puppy", he shows me up by being a complete star.
His breeders very much breed for temperament and health before all else though, so in terms of his personality, there is A LOT to be said for their efforts.
