I think as long as they're healthy and not intimidating, it would be good for her. If she's terrified, put her in her crate so she can see them from the safety of her own place....and keep the other dogs from terrorizing her. Don't coddle her if she shows a lot of fear. You can give yummy tid bits while she is Ok with them and further associate them with good things. You can visit with those dogs too, to show her that you like them. Don't let them frighten her though.

Okay I took the dog to work with me and everything went perfect nothing but good experiances there. The one dog put her in check but it was just a quick bark/growl Adi got scared and yelped but that was the end of it no harm done, just dogs being dogs. Then we came home I took her any my other dogs for a walk around the yard and nothing but good there. Then today we went to a puppy kindergarden class and that was all good except at the very end the trainer was teaching us how to do examinations of the dog. We had to hold them and let them get used to us touching their feet and ears and lifting their lips ect, then we had to pass our dog to the person sitting next to us so that they could do that to our dogs to. Well Adi didn't like that she pulled and tuged and wouldn't let anyone touch her, she was passed to like 3 people before she was passed back to me. When I got her back she was a little shaken up. After class was over I went to leave and Adi wouldn't walk on her leash so I picked her up carried her outside and we went for a little short walk just to let it all end on a good note. Then after school I took her to my moms work and walked her around a bit. Then on the way home we seen a fire so I just had to get out go see the fire and she didn't have any problems there. The fire was really close to the train tracks and she got a little spooked when a train went by and blew it's horn but who wouldn't, the train shook the ground. So what do you think of her experiance at puppy school, do you think it was too much for her? Besided that the rest of the day went great.

Well, when other people are handling her, she must not be frightened for forced. Were treats given simultaneously? I might suggest that you practice at home with a friend that she knows and likes. Let your friend "examine" her while you are standing near. Let your friend be the one to give treats. Then get another friend or family member so that she finds out that all kinds of people are great and to be trusted when putting their hands all over her. At class, you might ask your trainer if there is a way to make things a little more comfortable for her. Make sure the person handling her gives treats and that you can be near by......at first until she gets more use to it.

It think if she was very afraid and being forced to hold still, that can work against you because she'll learn that other people touching her or examining her is a bad thing. You've got to turn it into a good thing.

Glad to hear everything went well with the other dogs. And it's good to know she has some of that "bounce back" after a somewhat scary moment....like when the other dog gave a little warning growl. Good that nothing too big happened.:)

They where pulling her leash which I wish they wouldn't have. I feel it would have been better if she where just handed around so everyone could hold her. But yea, they where giving treats and all that good stuff, I was a little preoccupied with the dog I was handling at the time so I don't know if she accepted them or not. My neice and her boyfriend on their way over right now so I can have them help me do the examination thing I also have a few more friends that I can invite over to help me with that. Other things are going well though. Today we sat out front of vons for like a half hour, and she actually let someone pet her, not very much though. She walks good on a leash through public if im there. She's going to be easy to train to walk on a loose leash. She just don't like other people reaching out to touch her. Also how should I go about it when she barks at people? Right now she's barking at everything my mom, my brother, her reflection, the TV, other dogs not all the time though just when they come in the room suddenly or if the TV makes a loud noise or something. I don't want to scold her or anything for being protective I just really want her to be protective at the right times. I was thinking about getting a book on Schutzhund training but I don't know if that would be the most responcible thing for me to do with her personality. Thanks for your help get back to me.

Glad everything is going good.
If/When you take her on walks bring lots of treats and ask people you and her dont know if they'd like to give her one. it might teach her strangers are good. Be careful about overwhelming her with lots of people. I currently have 2 dobe pups that are 5 months old they go everywhere with us. On 4th of july we took the bitch to a huge fireworks show with 60,000 people there and we were there all day she just slept the whole time.
