Hard to believe that Darby is already 6 months old (August 5th). As she gets older, it just gets that much harder to explain away her bad behavior as just part of being a young pup. :p

Man she's changed...

Darby at 6 weeks the day we visited her at the breeder's for the very frst time:

Darby at 8 1/2 weeks (~8 pounds) the day we brought her home:

And Darby at 6 months (~22 pounds). Hard to believe how light she's gotten already.

A soft coated wheaten terrier.

What's that black band on her chest in the last picture?

Yes exactly. A soft-coated wheaten terrier. The black thing is the soft part of a sporn harness. We'd just returned from a walk when I snapped the photo. Darby does really well with the loose leash walking, but I still use the harness on her to keep the pressure off of her neck. Kids and other dogs can still get her pulling one way or the other.

Sporn harness:

Thanks all, for the nice comments. She's not only a darn pretty pup, but she just showed her worth by eating a fly. I'd swatted it from the air and it was laying stunned and squirming on the kitchen floor, and Darby just pounced and ate it. Good doggy.

Now if we could just get her to catch them out of the air.

Shes growing up nicely!

I wish they kept their puppy colours though lol i love the black accents hehe

I like hwo your keeping her coat a big longer! I can't stand seeing shaved Wheatons lol They should have a Wheaton clip.. not a buzz cut!

She's pretty trimmed in the 6 month photo, as she'd been to the groomer just a few days before. Maybe a little too short actually, but then it's very hot here right now so I'm sure it's cooler for her. They cut around her eyes a bit tighter this time.

I like her in a medium length cut (for a Wheaten that is). Not shaved short but not a true wheaten "show" cut. I just don't have the capacity to care for that.

I kind of like this length (below photo) which is about mid-way between groomings. But even this length make it hard not to have her looking like a poor urchin dog.
