I've been looking at baby stuff alot lately obviosuly(sp?) and I swear the only color girl stuff is in is PINK!!! I hate the gender specific things but you cant really find anything thats not girly while not being pink and purple. Id love to find a fairy(tinkerbell) type quilt thats not pink and i swear its not possible. GRRR Why is everything so gender specific? or say baby on it? I mean come on duh its a baby its not a puppy is it.

You should be able to find some stuff that's not specifically pink. I'll check on line a little to. We could always go with "rainbow" for baby's room...like your graduation tassel. rofl:D

LOL:D

I'm looking on Overstock.com right now and see some really cute stuff. They have one really cute ladybug one...a dragonfly one and a butterfly one. They're not pink either.

What about purple or yellow? I know a lot of stuff is coming out in a sage green because there are lots of other people sick of the "boy is blue and girl is pink" thing. Assuming that I ever have kids, I am going to refuse to have a single bit of pink if it's a girl. It's a thing I have to begin with anyway.

That is why I ended up making the baby stuff for the bed. Or rather I decided what I wanted and my mother did the actual sewing. Since I don't know if munes a boy or a girl, it had to be okay for both and since the baby has to be in my room for now, the bedding had to go with my room as well. Seems like the only thing out there for babies in the store is overly cutsey pastel stuff.

I'd go with green. There's got to be some non-gender specific stuff. People have babies without knowing what it is so they've got to buy non-specific stuff.

yellow or green works. and it IS a baby girl, so you can have pink, ya know.

You could always make some stuff, too.

A lot of people frown on thrift stores, but you won't believe how much money i have saved, and what good condition the baby clothes are in. IF you hit half price day or sack sale (most have them) the money goes that much further. My children had carter onesies, and other good quality brand names as well. My grandaughter loves puffgirls. They are not the trend right now, but they were, and she has overalls, hats, jeans, sweaters, and gloves all with the puffgirls on them that i have been finding for over a year now. I bought dreft and washed all the baby clothes and i felt they were just as clean as brand new. THey certainly smelled that way. I can attest that Dreft is the only thing that made my son's socks look and smell decent especially in those sweaty teen years, without the harm that bleach can cause. I don't think there is any shame in saving this way, especially when they are itty bitty. AS a single parent i can swear that we wouldn't have made it if it wasn't for "nearly new" clothes.

For newborns i always liked gowns for boys or girls. YOu dont have to stuff their legs down in constrictive clothes, nothing is binding around the waist, especially since they dont' have waists, they are just more practical.

YOu might want to check recycle.com too...I think there is one for every city in the US. Great for baby furniture!!!!!!!!! And those are FREE!!!!!!!!

thrift stores are great, ESPECIALLY for kids clothes, because they outgrow them so fast. a lot of the clothes are only worn once or twice before the kids outgrow them.

and as to being sick of Pink...be prepared! Hyia is as girly girly as a girl can get. SHe is butterflies and hearts, pink and purple and sparkles! YOu just never know...she sure didn't get that from my genes or her mama's either. SHe loves DRESSES!!! Prefers to wear them to school, hates jeans. I read to my son while he was still in the baking stage, and every day from birth on..yet he hates to read and we had about a thousand arguements during his school years about how important it is. Yet he has made his own way in the world and is holding down a great job...none of my children or grandchildren turned out the way i thought they would. IT was ME that learned to back off and let them grow into their own.

Smkie . . . . LOL! I'd already told Breeze - long before she knew she was having a girl - that she was going to end up with a very feminine little girl who loves pink and lavendar and lace and all sorts of little girl things :D

OH GOD how did i know that would come back to bite me in the butt. LOL. Im finding stuff but everything that i like is blue or too boyish (go figure)
That's OK! We just take a lot of the cute boy clothes and glue an appropriately colored bow to her forehead with toothpaste. It just makes her look like a cute tomboy.
