Dog from the pound (Collie mix).
He's skinny.
Acts "very" healthy. Plays like crazy with our other dog, and he looks and acts great.
However, he vomits anywhere from 2 to 5 hours after eating. It's not a spray or a liquid. Looks like bread chunks soaked in water, but it's not watery.
No regular pattern to this.
$125 blood test from the Vet says he's okay.
He's been with us over a month, and has always been on the same dry food.
No treats or table scraps.
Any ideas? Different Vet, perhaps?
Frustration meter is beginning to get pegged.
Thanks
Paul

Good idea. Thanks!
Educate me.
Just put some water in the bowl, or should I let it soak for awhile?
Should I switch over to a canned "wet" food?
He really wolfs it down. Maybe he's not chewing it enough.
Wish there was some consistency as to when he up-chucks (no pun intended).
I really appreciate the reply. We're running out of carpet cleaner.

Yes, just add some water to the bowl, it can be enough to just wet it down, or it can be swimming like cheerios in milk, that's really up to you. How long does he rest after eating before going out to play again? And what is he eating?

If it makes you feel any better, I was dealing with this issue with my foster lab for months...no real discernable reason behind why she would suddenly upchuck in the middle of the night. I just made sure that she only ate her kibble and a couple approved (through trial and error) treats and that seemed to help. Then she would only vomit when she got into somethign she wasn't supposed to, like kleenex.

Thanks for the suggestions.
After adding water to Charlie's food, there hasn't been any barf in his bark.
We've been giving him Purina Dog Chow (green bag).
The Vet suggested puppy chow, but he developed the dreaded piddly-poops when we tried it.
Keep the ideas coming. I'd really like for him to put on some more weight.
How can I post a pic? Nobody has a clue as to what breed our other dog Sam is. He's pretty unique (another one from the pound).
Thanks again.

I'm glad things are going better, have you thought about switching to a different food? Purina is not very good. You should probably go on one that might beef him up a bit, I'll let others give you suggestions since I don't know which ones will put weight on. You could also go check out the nutrition section which has many suggestions. oh and you can't always listen to a vet when it comes to food choices (unless your dog has a health condition)since they don't get much learning in this part of dog health.

To post pics you can go to www.photobucket.com and upload pics from your computer to the site. Then you click the box under the picture that says img code and it should say copied. Then just come and paste it here.

Paul, I would suggest you definately switch him from dog chow which is a horrible food to something much better. You said you wanted to be educated, you definately came to the right place for that LOL! You may want to glance at the dog food nutrition and recipes forum.

My nanook does the same thing if I dont' add water to her food. Not every time but several times a week. In answer to a previous question don't soak it. Just add the water and feed it.

I agree with the food change. You might want to consider switching to a higher quality food that doesn't have too many ingredients in case he does have a sensitive stomach. California Naturals comes to mind.

I suspected Purina Chow when you described it !! Agree with the above , though I fed Purina for years ! Those are pretty big chucks if it's not a big dog !

No x-rays yet. He seems to be doing fine with the water added to his food.
We're kinda paranoid about the vomiting, as that's what our Golden did before we found out he had a cancerous tumor blocking the exit from his stomach.
He was our best friend.
Thanks for the tip(s) everybody.
It's appreciated.
