Oh, and something strange about Kharma and babies: she LOVES babies . . . I have seen her lie down on the floor, nose to nose with an 18 month old - the two of them obviously communing on some level, neither one moving an muscle for several minutes.

But she totally disapproves of babies strapped into strollers! I think she has a "thing" about children being tied down, lol! She makes the oddest noises when confronted with a stroller and paws and paws at me, not satisfied until someone frees the baby

Aw Gem, you are going to be a great Fila mom. As far as children...you could not ask for a better dog around them. Brutus is attached to McKinley's hip when she is here. He does not leave her side. I was amazed how gentle he was with her even at 12 weeks when he first met her. She has laid on him, plays with his tail, checks out his teeth, and loves to stick her foot in his mouth, he tickles it, she giggles and does it all over again. Filas seem to know little people need a more gentle touch. The two things I did teach Brutus, to sit or lie down by her (suggested by Renee) so he won't knock her over accidentally, they grow extremely fast,2- Filas love to touch, so I taught him to be easy, when he puts his paw on her he is so gentle, this keeps him from accidentally scratching her. He also seems to be very fond of other kids that have come to the house. I will bet, when you do have children you will find your Fila sleeping in the nursery, a lot. When McKinley spends the night and Todd is at work, she usually wants Brutus to sleep in her room. He willingly stays with her until I let him out to go potty. Then Roxie usually goes in for awhile. I get up and check on her during the night and one or both of the big dogs are always with her. When we are outside Roxie will find her spot a short distance away and watch, but Brutus stays within five feet of her. Oh, and Filas love to play in sand boxes, he kept hogging her sand box, she would pour purple sand all over him and he loved it. Now that he is even bigger, we will have to get a bigger sand box this summer, I don't think he and McKinley will fit the small one anymore. He has even climbed on her slide and slid down. lol A four legged kid with fur. However, if we walk to the pond, he has to show off his swimming and fetching skills for her. That is the only time he will leave her, but Roxie takes over guarding her. Sometimes it just boggles my mind how these two dogs work together. They seem to have awesome telepathic skills.

You could consider a Argentine Dogo. They are boar hunters so you would be good on that part.

I dont know much about them, bu I think they would be OK with livestock if they grew up with them.

Or a Great Pyrenese (you know what I mean)

Gempress, I could go on for hours how wonderful Brutie has been with McKinley. All I can say...don't ever under estimate these dogs, their love and devotion at only a few weeks old, is utterly astounding. Your going to fall completly in love with this dog.
