So, breeder has several litters right now. Two are listed. I am dying to see them, but they are only like 2.5 weeks old. I dont want to be that annoying puppy parent, but I would like to go and see them and get to know them so we can decide together which puppy will work for us. Hubby, bless his heart, is a little reluctant - we haven't even begun shopping for her yet. I think he's concerned we could jinx it.

So, would you email the breeder and say hey, when can we come down and look at them? Or would you let it alone for a couple weeks and email when they are like 5 or 6 weeks old? I am afraid we won't seem interested and that we are putting all our bets on this one litter, when others are also available and we could miss out. But, I don't want to be annoying to the breeder.

So, how often would you email or would you ask to see them this young?

I don't see anything wrong with contacting the breeder and asking for updates on how the pups are doing, I'm sure the breeder will be happy you are so interested in the pups. I wouldn't necessarily ask if I could go see them though. I think most breeders don't let buyers visit until the pups are quite a bit older...maybe 5-6 weeks? They want to avoid bringing disease in that the young ones can't fight off.

That said I might be wary of a breeder with several litters on the ground at once.

yep, all of this ^

3 weeks is a bit too young, so you can ask all you like but the answer would be no, so why bother? you could ask now for a future date, like "what time and day the week of ____ would work for you for us to come see them?" and have that week be when theyre 5+ weeks old

from a breeder perspective, if a buyer has passed my standards and is on the Go list for a puppy, there is nothing they can do that would be annoying to me in terms of puppy interest. the more keen, the better. im ridiculously excited about my babies all the time, to the point of screaming and running around my house, so it wouldnt bother me in the slightest to chat it up with someone just as intense lol

Too young to visit, but nothing wrong with making contact with the breeder. The breeder should be excited on what they have bred and want to do nothing more than talk about them.

Usually with breeders I know, they pick the puppy for you. They have lived with them and know their personalities better than you will on a few short visits. You may get a choice of a couple of puppies if they are similar.

Thank you guys. I think I will just email her and let her know I saw the updated pictures and how cute/big they are getting.

Thank you for the warning about the multiple litters at the same time, but I'm not concerned about this with this particular breeder. They health test, show/compete their dogs and some of these are just co-owned dogs. I also think that this is just a rare thing that there are a couple litters at the same time. Think it just worked out that way cycle-wise. I'm very comfortable with this breeder and her knowledge and I wouldn't have picked her had I thought otherwise :)
