Ok I have a question and i want you guys to be totally honest with me, My husband has fallen in love with this pup i am fostering, He's never been this way about any dog before, and wants to keep him, I have already received several e-mails and pm's from people interested in adopting him. Should i allow my hubby to keep him? I've never seen my hubby this wrapped up in a dog before and never seen a dog respond to my husband in the way this one does. My hubby has been begging me for a good minute now and frankly i'm tired of hearing about it. So should i allow hubby to keep him or should i allow someone who has already put in an application adopt him? Now if I let hubby keep him what should i tell the ones that filled an application? (Some that filled the application frequent the same boards i do.) If i allow hubby to have him i don't want to be dishonest to anyone in any way. So what do you guys think?

Yes a donation would be sent and money wouldn't be an issue as far as care goes, but if i say yes to hubby keeping him, what do i tell the ones who filled out an application? I have a soft heart so i kinda feel bad about that part.

Tell them the same thing you'd have to tell them after you'd chosen a family from among them. Only one family can have the dog after all. In this case you are just disappointing one more family than you woud have anyway.

Besides, you've already made an investment (time and money) in the dog. I wouldn't feel bad at all in your position. You deserve "first pick".

Keep him, and simply tell people that as often happens with fosters, you've accepted him into your home and your heart, and you just can't bear to give him up. However, you will let them know about other dogs that come available.

He's so pretty, i want him too!

Thanks guys, i always hated the part where you have to tell the family they didn't get accepted, i'm a softy, but you guys are right, I have already invested time and money into him, I guess i'll go tell hubby the good news, he's in the bedroom pouting.

Ahem...don't forget to post pictures of the male bonding between them.

A good man and his dog are always worth getting a picture of! Glad that little cutie is going to a good family.

Oh i will have plenty of pics of that! Those two are so inseperable it's sickening! Yesterday i had the pup in my lap and he was sleeping and hubby came in from work walked right over to me and said, "I think he's tired of you" And promptly picked him up and layed down on the couch with him. I was like "well Then", LOL!

When you tell the people ... you don't need to say whether or not they were approved . A lot of people foster to see if they've chosen the right dog .....

I gotcha, I can just tell them the dog worked out for us and he has made a place in our hearts and we have decided to keep him, or something to that affect.

*seems to remember suggesting something to that effect* ;)

I had a buddy who fought over territory in the backyard with a dog...

I'm glad you allowed it. Sometimes there is a special, instantaneous bond between a person and a dog, and it doesn't come along very often. I think this pup will be your husband's new best buddy. :)
