I can't believe she's here! Belly (my puppy) is here! My parents surprised me this morning! Oh I've waited so long. She's so small and fat! She has a litle pot belly. I guess she owns up to her name:D. Too bad she's scared of the camera, I can't get one decent shot of her. She's so smart and curious too. I though she'd be tired after the airplane ride but no, she just wants to play, play, play! Just if you guys are wondering, she'l be exactly 11 weeks tomorrow. Oh I'm so excited! Now, just one thing. Which flea and tick killer can we use on her? She already has one or two fleas or ticks, we don't know where she got them from. So is Frontline or K9Advantix good?

give her a little soap and water bath.this is a wonderful age to make bathing fun..which will save you a lot of trouble later on..use the same shampoo you would on your own head..that will be gentle enuff .soap kills fleas on contact..babies are so tender and since you don't have fleas in your home..that should be enuff for today. You need first thing to take her for a vet check...and your vet will recommend what is best for your puppy. make absolutely positively sure that her vaccines are current..don't wait for any reason. Congradulations!!!!!! :) i am very happy for you ;)

Wow nice! I can't wait to see pics.

For the flea stuff, I think it's best to wait until she is 6 months if you want to use the liquid things, but there are collars for puppies that you should be able to use soon. You might want to ask your vet though.

Just remember to keep her in safe spots until she has all her shots.

I can't remember which one but I think she might be too young for one but she is old enough for the other. The vet can tell you for sure. Also there is a prd of time btwn the bath and applying the frontline and avantage or advantix. If you do it too soon after a bath they won't have the necesarry oils in their coat and too soo after will wash it away. Again ask the vet. It actually says it on the boxes but how many people read all of that.
Oh and frontline and advantage or advantix are all good. they have a few diffences. the main one btwn advantage and advantix is that advantix also works on ticks. Since my little ones are so small I use the frontline spray. It's not as good as the tubes but it works well for them and they haven't had any problems since they have been on it.
Most important please don't use a flea collar. I know some people still love them but they can be toxic. As alway the choice is up to you and your family but I just wanted to let you know so you can check it out if you want to.

Oh well too late :D We went to Petco and the guy suggested BioSpot and we took it. But I did give her a soap bath. Anyway, I took her outside right after she ate and waited for over an hour and nothing. So I took her back inside and the second the steps in she starts doing her business. This must have happened 3 times already. She just doesn't like going outside. Oh well. Oh, I gota shot of her sitting. She's learned it already!

I'm excited for you. I cant wait to read all you will post about your pup and I hope I can give you some help along the way. My only advise to you is to learn patience with your pup, they can be worse than having a 2 year old around.

Congrats on your new baby! She is just adorable. All puppies are cute but I think beagle and bassett pups are just the cutest of all of them. I think it's the ear thing. I love long floppy ears....what can I say? :D

Pam

BTW...what made you decide on the name Belly before you even knew she had a little pot belly? Very cute name!
