A friend of mine posted this picture on facebook. I was appalled to see that heineken would support such a cruel so called "sport" I know it probably won't make much of a difference... but I shared the link on my facebook to spread the word and also attached a link to contact heineken and give feedback. I left them an ear full. Here's the links:

Heineken didnt sponsor the dog fight they held a promotional event at the Mongolian club the night before (in 2010) and the club didnt take down the banners. Its not really fair to throw the company under the bus when they had no knowledge of the event and took action to tell what happened in a pretty public press conference (http://www.heineken.co.uk/media_detail.php?newsID=154)

The owner of the bar also released this statement

ahhh the age of internet photos being taken out of context. there was one recently posted on facebook where it shoed a puppy with a bottle of vodka in it's mouth and the guy holding the bottle but there was absolutely not evidence that the bottle was open or anything of the sort and people were calling for his DEATH. Tasteless photo yes... but death threats? lol

Yeah did you see what the guy had to say after words? :/ While it was a tasteless photo it was taken far out of context, the puppy was just playing with the bottle and then a friend of his took the picture and posted it.

Oh, i am sorry. It was portrayed to me that they did know about it. I apologize for taking it out of context.

I just passed that link to the press release about the incident to my friend on facebook so she can share it.

yeah definitely not blaming you.

I just have to wonder about the motives of the person that first posted that photo to be shared (not your friend I mean the original person that started the whole thing)

If you guys hadn't told me about this... i would never have known any different and would have continued to think they were supporting dog fighting. I would have spread the word and boycotted their beer. I saw the picture, saw their banners... immediately thought they were behind that cruel activity. I'm glad to hear they're not because I actually enjoy an ice cold heineken from time to time :)
