:( This story happened to my dog about a year ago, anyway here it goes.
One day Blizzard decided to jump over a six foot wall, while his owners were away. So Blizzard jumped the fence and toured the neigborhood. Well when his owners got home they found only one dog not two. They checked outside and found a not that said " I have your dog, come pick him up". So when went to pick him up and took him home. This happened many more times. Untill one time Blizzard tried to jump the fence but OOOOOUUUUUCCCCCHHHHHHH. Of course we were not home so we did not know what was going on. Well when we got home I decided to lay on the floor and pet Blizzard and C.J. When we noticed a huge cut on Blizzards leg. We decide to take him to the vet, they took an X-ray and found out he had severed his tendon . So then he had to have surgery, the vets did something to the tendon and closed up the wound. Well one day when we were at school Blizzard decided to jump the fence again, and what did he do, he re-opened his wound and severed his tendon a second time. Well this time we to him to a vet surgical center. They ended up fusing he leg so he could not bend it. He also had to have 14 screws inserted.
Even today the wound bothers him so mutch he chews on it. We've had e-collars on him sock put over the wounds and casts. He seems to always be able to rip it off. Anyway Blizzard is still around today, thankfully!
I guess I'll also have to ask a question. Is there something I can put on his leg to stop him from chewing on his wound?
Thanks,
Chris Moore

You should probably post this in the health section to get some good responses.

I think only the mods or admins can move it. Maybe if you send them a message.

sound like now he has a learnt problem, the wound "should" be healed by now, but over time he has learnt to lick and play with the wound site. some dogs do this after they have had a small area of the hair removed for injections and such, the site is not sore they just like to lick the area and so eventually cause a problem in that area. I would try to take his mind off it if you see him going to mess with his wound site, get his attention, play a game or such try to break the habit, or you could if the area is now healed spray with some tee tree or bitterapple, to deter him, other than that have him wear a collar(the type vets use, looks like a lampshade) for some time til he forgets about it.
