Selling Mixes as Purebred Dogs

Like you said, there are sooo many ways for a chi to be out of breed standards and still BE a chihuahua. That wired fur makes it completely obvious that they're passing mixes off as chihuahuas.

It's especially frustrating because people buy these dogs, they grow up to have crappy temperaments and then people think THAT is how chis are. Breeders like this are how toy breeds get such bad names. The parents of these puppies aren't bred for anything other than greed, the puppies are sold as accessories, and these puppies grow up to be such poor examples of their breeds.

Its particularly obvious as wire hair is a dominant and highly penetrative trait. It can't hide in the genome to pop up later. In order to get a wire haired dog you must have a wire haired parent.....

I have met a LOT of wire haired dogs lately introduced to me as long coated chihuahuas.

They probably sell "special bows'- like the ones they tie their shih tzu's top knots with while they're showing.

I know this is getting nitpicky, and is not of the importance that the dogs they're producing is, but I've never seen anything like this on a reputable breeder's website:

So come on in and have a look around. I'm sure you want to buy a puppy from us. We are all so cute.

That's one step from begging someone to buy the puppies you had no kind of waiting list or plans for before being bred.

The one in the middle looks like Gizmo from the Gremlins. Gizmo is definitely a Chihuahuas. I've never had any sort of hangup on whether a dog is pure breed or mix or what mix or what breed, but I understand many people do and it's definitely unethical to sell a dog as a breeder and give it papers claiming it's a breed that its not. Definitely call her out on that.
