Just got home from our very first Dog Show.

http://www.seattlekennelclub.org/

We had fun! I didn't see any of the confirmation stuff, sorry. I spent all of my time watching the agility trials and cruising the rescue booths. So many dogs to meet and so little time. We also watched a herding demo.

I have never before been anywhere where there were so many great dogs. Big ones, really big ones, medium to small ones, pretty ones, ugly ones and mostly all of them friendly and eager to meet me.

Did you know Shar Peis come in smooth and rough?

Did you know that Akitas have the most incredibly soft coat you could imagine?

Ladies with Bassett hounds are especially friendly. ;)

German Shorthair Pointers are much cooler than I knew.

But if I came away with any opinions that are going to stick with me for a long time; it's that Border Collies rock! The herding and agilily skills of the BCs I saw were incredible. The BC entered the herding ring and immediately dropped, doing that eye thing. The ducks were helpless. :hail: In agility they were just awesome. I was extremely impressed.

I met my Aussie rescue rep and kissed her butt as much as possible. :D Turns out, We're going to have our home "inspection" next weekend. She's bringing two dogs over to see how we interact. She's also bringing a couple of rescue trainees to observe. This place is going to be crowded.

It sounds like an incredibly good time. I'm so glad you had such a fun experience. I'm sorry I missed that...am planning on going to visit my family in a few weeks. Bad timing. There are sooooooooo many cool breeds. It's fun to see lots of them.

I almost entered that show. Lots of friends showing there this weekend. I am glad you enjoyed it. Dog shows are a ton of fun and I always love my show weekends.:)

You were at the show yeterday and didn't come see the Dobies??!! Very naughty. Heading out the door this morning for the show. Kohls' not entered as co-owner is also club member. We'd have to take her off papers, then put her back on for show next week, that we really want to do. Decided to only do one of the 2 shows so skipped showing at SKC this year. A lot of fun though! We would have run into each other yesterday! Have a friend that's there with Aussie Rescue! Hope you get the dog you're in line for!! Small world.

Maybe Otch can put in a good word for ya, Dogless. We are tired of seeing you suffer as Dogless.

We want to see you change your name to WithDogInSeattle

Thanks for the good thoughts everybody. I haven't decided on my next handle yet and I'm reluctant to lose this tremendous post count I've accumulated... :D

I did visit the Dobes up in the rescue booth. They all seemed to be on the very large size! I'm pretty sure I handled at least one of every breed that was available for handling. Even a great big soggy mastiff. I think one his buddies had just drooled all over him. A Basenji tried to mug me for a little box of cookies I was shamed into buying by a very large eyed little girl, "come on mister, it's for rescue." I thought they were people cookies until I got home.

I'm pretty sure Mrs. Dogless is on board with the Aussie. She met several and observed that they were good performers in the agility trials. She really liked this little deaf one they had in the booth. She is drawn to the smaller long haired breeds. She liked several of the spaniel breeds. But she spent a couple hours this morning reviewing the Aussie rescue listings.

I'll keep you all updated on our rescue experience.

That's out near ocean shores right? If so it's west of me by a bit, but not too much! :D When's the show?
April 7th & 8th there is a show in Centrailia, WA
May 5th & 6th there is a show in Elma, WA

Don't know if they are close to you or not as I am not too familiar with WA. Shows are a lot of fun. I am sure you would love the vendors. The stuff is much better than what you can find at chain pet supplies!

Thanks! I wrote down the dates and places!! The one in Centrailia I think I found the actual show name. I think. I'll make sure to look into it when dates come!
