One of my 3 dogs (3 yr chow mix) is a very picky eater. Vet gave her a clean bill of health but said she could stand to add some weight. I feed her twice a day (EVO/Wellness wet & TOTW/Pure Vita) but she usually will not eat in the morning. Well this morning I decided to scramble 2 eggs for her and she cleaned her plate. My question is are scrambled eggs OK to feed and if so how many times a week?

Eggs are GREAT! Personally, I don't have a problem with feeding them every day.

Have you tried putting raw egg over her food and mixing it in some?

There are several recipes here for Satin Balls as well, and they are great for adding weight. Just be sure she really NEEDS the weight, especially in the summer. Most dogs tend to drop a few pounds in the hot weather, especially heavy coated breeds, and some vets prefer to see dogs a little on the tubby side for some reason :(

I give Jackson eggs whenever I eat them... which is usually only once every 2 weeks. If I ate them more, Jackson would get them more too. lol. Eggs are great!

I give Luna eggs a lot, the protein is really good.... I read in Whole Dog Journal once that almost none of the commercial foods on the market actually contain enough protein for dogs, so anytime you can add protein you're doing a good thing.

Since Luna's so small - 7 lbs - I usually don't give her more than 1/2 egg every 2 days or so. I've given them to her scrambled, boiled, and raw, but she's not crazy about the raw. She particularly likes them warm, especially in the winter. I also cook up a couple eggs for her if they're a few days past the expiration date, doesn't seem to bother her at all.

eggs are great for dogs. If you use raw food though use moderation in feeding. Biotin/avodin balance problems from an egg heavy diet can be an issue. We don't normally feed eggs around here unless they're cooked more than a couple times a week. If you cook them however it solves the problem. I do feed hard boiled eggs as snacks.

I wouldn't add extra crap to the eggs. There's no need to.

I'd like to read that article. I'm surprised the WDJ would make that admission. I mean, just take a look at that top 10 with their endorsements:lol-sign:. In any event, thumbs up for eggs, cooked or raw:thumbup:

Egg is the most digestible of all proteins. It is the protein against which all other proteins are measured, 100% on the digestibility scale; however, it is also one of the most common allergens in dogs. If your dog is not allergic to eggs feed them every day if you want as long as they are cooked. Raw eggs you should feed no more than once a week.
